I have a table lift and also have the jack adapter and have used it countless times with the bike on the lift doing swingarm maintenance and or changing out the rear tire. Works great with the table top lift and my regular cycle lift. And yes I use the tape that Bud supplied. Cant imagine doing the work I have done without it.
