I'll say this Sly,.....the only reason I won't be there this summer would be either a health issue, my Nomad won't run or I am not allowed my vacation request by my employer. The vacation issue at work is very involved and too much to explain here. In short I'll be there "come hell or high water". But yes you must bring <s>Surely</s> I mean Norm.

caper,
Are you going for sure? How far is for you from where you are?
I think it's about 3000 miles for me. Not sure if this link will work or not but this the route,......at this moment.

<s>http://rideplanner.harley-davidson.com/rideplanner/ridePlanner.jsp</s>

nope!! doesn't work.

The plan /route is based solely on mileage per day. I want to make decent time without knocking myself out. So right now this is it. Any suggestions or warnings are welcome.

Day 1: Langley BC Canada to Sumas WA to Walla Walla WA
378.9 mi.

Day 2: Walla Walla to Twin Falls, Idaho 384.1 mi.

Day 3: Twin falls to Price, Utah 335.7 mi.

Day 4: Price to Colorado, Springs, Colorado 446 mi.

Day 5: Colorado to Salina, Kansas 417.3 mi.

Day 6: Salina to Waterloo, Illinois 437.2 mi. mi.

Day 7: Waterloo to Nashville, Tennessee 277.8 mi.

Day 8: Nashville to Maggie Valley North Carolina 263.4 mi

for a total of,............................................... ...........2940.2 mi.

But like I said I wouldn't doubt there will be changes in order to meet up with someone, or just because I want to go further some days and less on other days. The 400 plus days will be or could be long ones.

Ricky, unless you are stopping to go sightseeing at some spots you should be able to do a few 5-600 mile days without a lot of difficulty. I went from Newmarket to Elkins a few years ago and it was 530 miles each way. I left here at 6am and was there at 3:45. That way you could cut 2-3 days travelling off of your trip each way.

Steve I've never kept track of the mileage each day on a trip. At least not on the bike or for any longer than a day or so.
I was only going by what the H.D. ride planner said.

For example,...Sumas WA to Walla Walla WA it says
378.9 miles....... 6 hr. 20 min
Now that you mention it it does sound like a long time to travel that distance. 378 miles = 608.332032 kilometers
But that's what I went by. When I was talking with C.J. he said he was going to do some long days and put in 500 mile days.

On my way back from Custer,...I rode from Missoula MT to Langley BC. Although it rained the whole day it was a long one at, 591 miles [= 951.122304 kilometers]
I'm in no real hurry and have the three weeks or maybe a month before I have to be back home.

When riding I try to get 600-700k a day, No easy task! You know the fuel stops you need on a bike and than they turn into rests :):) and than bathroom stops eats....etc. Its hard to get that many k's in!!!!

If my math is correct;
378.9 miles....... 6 hr. 20 min = 59 MPH
If your on super slabs you should do much better.
If you are on secondary road you will probably do worse than that.

You know I wondered what speed they gauged the time and distance with. What are the speed limit's in most States? 60 mph on a hwy.?
I don't usually go too much over the limit, unless it's pretty much a straight line.

I'm guessing 3490 is kilometers right? {3490 kilometers = 2 168.58546 miles}
I would have thought I'd be more than 772 miles further than you.i guess it can be deceiving.
