Who has the most mile`s on their bike & maint?

Sorry if this has been posted before! The thing that brought this to mind is, I ride with a group usually of about 8 & we were talking yesterday about mileage an a couple of them or so freaked when I told them mine had 45,000 mi`s. I`ll have to say, that i`ve owned many bikes over the yrs an the last was a harley which i won`t discuss other than i`ve been there & done that. My bike had 7,200 mi`s when i bought it with nothing but spotlights on it. besides many $$$ in accessories (but thats the fun in doing it the way you want it) the only things I have done are as follows, 21,000 mi`s i decided to replace the pog with Judges sog, at same time i installed a set of cam-chain extenders, other than that just a couple sets of tires & brake pads. The nomad is the most comfortable bike i`ve owned including a custom Valkryie that i bought only to re-sell! just thought it would be interesting to see some of the higher mile bikes an what maint has been done? Don`t think i`ll ever let mine go, nothing else out there i`d rather have! sorry to ramble on.

Who has the most mile`s on their bike & maint?

My bike has 05 Nomad has 55,950 miles on it now. We traded the wife's 04 Nomad last March with over 58,000 on it. There is a guy in VROC who has over 100,000 miles on his bike and lots of people with over 85,000. The guy with over 100,000 miles, as of last September, had never done anything to the engine.

Who has the most mile`s on their bike & maint?

2005 1600 Nomad, regular stuff like fluids, filters, tires, brake pads, spark plugs and such but here is a list of parts that I've added or changed, and at what miles.

22k, driveshaft, swingarm bearings
34k, tensioner extenders
55k, head bearings, fork bushings
73k, fuel pump
93k, front wheel bearings
108k, counterbalance gear and rubbers
114k, clutch spring
132k, fuel pump, rear drive seals
135k, battery, radiator

Everything except the extenders, clutch spring and battery were covered by Kaw warranty, and I still have another 15 months of warranty.

Garry

Who has the most mile`s on their bike & maint?

After reading Garry's post I might ride my ' 01 another year. It has 53,000 miles and I was thinking of parting it out and put the stuff on a 1700 Vulcan or going to the otherside. I've changed the clutch and extenders and that's all. OK, a few batteries and tires, but that's maintenance.

Who has the most mile`s on their bike & maint?

1999 purchased new

Plastic oil gear- replaced under warranty
Battery shorted out in first year- replaced under warranty
Cam plug leaks- fixed under warranty
weather crack on shaft boot- replaced under warranty
Oring where shift lever shaft goes in- replaced under warranty
Something else, don't remember what- fixed under warranty

Two clutch jobs in 63,000 miles
No extenders, though the cam chain ripped through the spark plug tube near 63,000 miles. Gave extenders to the new owner to install.
One set of brakes
A few head lights
lots of tires and oil

2005 purchased used with I think 2,000 miles
Fuel pump went out after selling it on Ebay, but before it got shipped. New owner had it replaced under warranty when he got it.

2006 purchased new
Every clutch component replaced under warranty, even master cylinder to try to cure a clutch wear problem.
Engine pulled to replace a hydraulic lifter- done under warranty
Speedo assembly replaced due to a malfunctioning selection button- replaced under warranty

Who has the most mile`s on their bike & maint?

This past weekend at 21,312 miles replaced the factory OEM front tire, & second rear tire. Both had a few thousand miles left of tread.

Swing arm & drive shaft maintenance done.

Both front & rear brakes looked good. Changing all the fluids this coming weekend. Other than oil changes that's all. No engine or clutch issues.

Who has the most mile`s on their bike & maint?

In an earlier thread, there were some references to a known 200K Nomad but no info on what it took to get there.

Keep at it BD. You're catching up.

18 month old 2007 just turned 16K this weekend. I'm due for 15k service. Besides crash repair, only service has been per service manual schedule.
I'll have to ride more now just to stay ahead of Brad ;)
