New to me Nomad

Hey all, on Monday I am going to pick up a 2003 Vulcan Nomad 1500Fi, with 13,500miles. I'm really excited to get the Vulcan...I've been riding a 750 shadow spirit. I plan on changing oil, new air filter, probably fulsh radiator, change rear diff. oil., flush brake and clutch too. The bike hasnt moved much this year besides couple test rides. I was also thinking of draining the gas and putting some non-ethanol in. Any suggestions or things to look out for would be appreciated.

The only thing left is spark plugs. You can clean the throttle bodies too. Other than that, how are the tires? The oil also has a screen that sits lower than the drain plug. You can drain from there and get a little more oil out and clean out the screen. Use a good oil filter like a Bosch or the factory filter. If it doesn't have the stock exhaust, you can use a longer oil filter. Bosch makes it, but I forgot the part numbers. You may want to get a factory manual if you don't have one.

What PONCH said. The oil screen is on the left SIDE of the case towards the rear. NUT head on a larger diameter cap. This oil screen traps debris and often gets forgotten.
Check all the nuts and bolts; rectifier, exhaust, etc. Looks for leaks and seeps of course.
The Radiator has to be "burped" when flushing. As you probably know, the fill cap is under the gas tank on the right side.
Someone probably has the link to Gadgets Fix It page. This site is dedicated to the Vulcan 1500 and has MANY how to's, tips and tricks....

Welcome aboard! Check the rear shocks for air pressure, ONLY use a hand pump to fill them as they dont hold much air and you can rupture the air bladder very easily if you use a compressor.

Well... I haven't done anything to the bike yet but ride her some. I did put some new gas in, and took the scenic route route on the way to and from. I love this bike! Cant wait to hit some open road and put some miles down!

This bike is awesome! Loving it, cant wait to go on a long ride. With the windshield it will definitly lengthen my winter riding.
