I stopped by the local dealer today to replace a Nomad key I lost on a recent trip.

Cost = $22.00

My locksmith doesn't have any motorcycle blanks, I ordered 2 blanks off Ebay and took them in to have cut, he charged me $1.00 to cut both keys.

Same deal. Local hardware store has blanks, and I went to a smith, for low dough he cut and test each key. I don't like keys that state a make name one bit.

Be glad your key doesn't have a chip in it.

Mine also cost about $22. I went to about three locksmith shops and they did not carry bike keys. I wish I thought about ebay.

An Ilco X121 DC3 should be a common key blank at most places that cut keys and works just fine with a light filing on both flat surfaces. I think I paid around $2.00 for both the key and cutting.

Well, let that be a lesson. I should have inquired here as to the best way to get a key. I made some notes and if there is a next time (and there will be) I think I can get her done cheaper than $22

Most locksmiths also carry Silca KW14 blanks. I think I paid 2.00 couple years ago.
