I just bought a battery tender from Wal Mart. Where did you locate the plug coming from the battery? I have mine running under the box out to above the right side cover. The end of the plug doesn't have a cap over it so I wonder if I should secure it somewhere or let it hang. What did you do?
Thanks,
Zoom45

I have a Mustang studded seat, which has a flap that runs around the rear portion of the seat cushion. I stuff mine between the cushion and the flap.

I ran the pig tail forwards and down thru the wire bracket ahead of the battery, with the over flow hoses.

i found a 'black' plastic cap from the kit of many colors and sizes for blocking off tubings at the air filter housing, to use on the plug as a cover/cap.

I felt a need to stretch it some, and used spreading pliers.. The cap has more or less taken a shape at this point in time.

The pig taile ends were forced thru the battery cap covers, and are all that is force this way. As I am in deep winter that pig tail is still on the bike, while the battery is in the cellar on the charger.

For that, I used the alternate clips supplied in the kit.

Mine is behind the left side cover.
I only use it in the winter as I am not taking that pain in the ass battery out of the bike again till it is time for a new one.
I cover the end during riding seasonn with a piece of electrical tape.

Edit;
I just noticed my karma is up to 27 :(" title="" border="0"/> I musta pissed somebody off.

I have a cigarette lighter type outlet mounted between the handlebar and the windshield. It's plugged into the accessory connectors in the headlight bucket. Since that is always hot, I just plug the charger into that outlet. Installed a cigarette lighter plug on one of the pigtails that came with the charger. Works great.

Well Mac, I don't need it during the riding season as I ride my bike almost everyday soooooooo, I figure it is charging enough.
Tape works just fine, no one can see it as it is behind the side cover.
Class, your telling me to have some class? Come on, you ment me face to face this last summer, you should know I am not a very classy guy. :-[

The Nonad demands a certain bit of class.... even if you don't

Do I look like I got any class to you? I resemble a gray dandilion..... a stick man with a fuzz head.

Do you disconnect the tender after the light turns green or leave it on and hooked up all the time?
Thanks,
Zoom45

I leave ine on any time I am not riding... The battery and seats are in the cellar now, since vinals hate cold. That battery will be on the charger the rest of winter, and when it goes back in the bike, any time I am not riding.

If you have the newer shumaker is has anti sulfation pulse, which is a great thing to have.

Where the pig tail exits for access has no right or wrong. I fed mine forwards to be at the forward edge of the left side cover, tied up to the wire over flow tubing holder, because I felt it was a cleaner install, and I couldn't screw up the paint.

Anyone could add wire and place the 2 prong plug anywhere they wanted. I even made up another adapter that fits it, ending in a ciggy butt lighter socket, which is stored in the mesh bag. it is just a quick install power take off for anything I might want, for when the bike IS NOT moving.

Maybe if I owned a cell phone, I could mount that socket under that side cover on velcro, and wire tie the 2 prong plug next to the one from the battery, but I haven't.

I did the same as Yellow Jacket and used the cigarett light addapter for accessary power. Its not switched so it feeds back direct to the battery terminals! As good as any :)

I have a main ciggy butt socket mounted on my windshiekd, the temp one is just there to be handy for any other 12 volt needs, like filling someone else's tires, and the main at the windshield will monitor volts still.

Leave in on and hooked up until you're ready to ride again.
