2003 1500 fi acct upgrade
Doing maintenance on my 2003 1500 FI. Did the Meanstreak clutch spring today with ofcourse new exhaust crush gaskets. Added a headlight modulator, and a third brake light with a modulator. LED 12inch strip looping around inside the passenger backrest.
Then on to the ACCT extenders. Now the question. Does the tank, and the injectors/intake have to be removed in order to get the air plenum crossover out of the way for access to the front cylinder acct? You would have thought Maw Kaw would have made it to be taken apart in the middle, such as 2 halves, one sliding in to the other. If I can find me a piece of heat shrink at work big enough to go around the plenum I know how it's gonna come out. Holler back if'n you have info. Thanks, Chuck.

Yep, that's why most guys cut the crossover plenum out and throw it in the trash. It's a lot of work to remove one intact.

Well, got a head scratcher here. I pulled the rear cylinder acct. It wasn't but a little over half used up on the adjustment. After I removed it from the engine, I was able to push it out another 5/16th inch or so of the rod length. I bought the bike in March so I do not know if it may have had the chains replaced at one time or another. At 38000 miles I figured the adjustment was well spent.

"You would have thought Maw Kaw would have made it to be taken apart in the middle, such as 2 halves, one sliding in to the other".
This is how it is on the 1700's. |
