LED driving lights
I have 1600 Nomad and have driving lights identical to the ones that Chucksters sells that bolt onto the windshield brackets/forks. The lights are the 4 1/2 inch sealed beam and get pretty warm. My question has anyone replaced these lights with LED but used the same housing? If so how did you wire them and did the trim ring still fit? Thx for any input.

IF you have sealed beams, switch over to the H1 or h3 replacements, with the seperate bulbs. the shells that the Halogen bulb fits in actually come in the LED kits unless it specified differently.
If you order a LED Replacement, they'll have the bulb you can change out, unless otherwise indicated.... Difference between a sealed beam and a LED is like between night and day. My LED Headlight is going between 5 and 7 years now, easily double the brightness of the old, dim sealed beams. One thing really nice, is that the low amp draw of the LED Headlight and driving lights both draw less power than the origional single headlight bulb, when turned on. Makes your older wiring harness last longer by not maxing out your current draw. And draw little enough that SOMETIMES a relay isn't needed.

Will any of these cree or LED sealed beam replacements fit spotlamps that use a scew through the bottom of the reflector to hold the trim ring on? All of these seem to fit Harley style pinch trim rings.

Cree LED lights confirmation to fit Chucksters lightbar

Note: Specifically, the ones I am considering are Cree LEDs ...H3/H1 2000 LM Cool White Light 5. So, have you by chance heard of a successful swap? |

I have bought the above for my driving lights. They produce a better beam I believe and a better light. They are a pure white light led. Cost was $55.99 Canadian and will be a bunch less actually a give away in USA. They are 4.5 inch and I really like these. You can not use a visor with these at all. Dave

No I do not have it on mine now with the factory lens I did. I have changed over to the above and the lens seats into the frame work there is no room for a visor at all using these. They protrude past the chrome outer ring I hope you get my drift on that. They are a sealed beam you cannot replace a bulb. I really believe they have a brighter light then using a LED bulb in a standard lens. For bulbs I use this site below and you can punch in your model of car or bike and it will give you every bulb in LED for the car or bike. Great site if you ask me. I use the bulb meant for my bike in a standard lens housing and again is a pure white bulb and it feels and looks great I believe and has a great output I would say. Much better than a standard bulb supplied by the dealers.
