I need to up my idle on my 06 nomad..... according to the manual, you just turn the idle knob....... but,,,,, mine just spins freely on the steel screw its surrounding...... I tried to turn the screw that the black knob covers, but, it dosn't want to turn.. and , I'm afraid I might break something.....I'm thinking maybe this dosn't do anything, and it has to be done by computer or something............enlighten me please, thanks ronnie

My idle knob needs to be pushed-in and then turned while pushed-in (or is it pulled-out then turned). Either way try it.

One way or the other will then adjust your idle... otherwise the knob just spins; as you found out.

put a socket on the bolt head and try it, works on mine. Add a little lube too.

The idle control cable seizes up frequently at the throttle body, give it a spray with some penetrating oil to loosen it up. A common sign of having a low idle is needing to clean your throttle body with carb cleaner. This usually raises your idle back up and increases your fuel mileage as well. Its very easy to clean and makes a noticeable difference.

thanks for the answers men.....ringadingh is probably right about the throddle body, because I've got over 40,000 on the bike, and it's probably time for a cleaning..... now if I can find the throddle body..... I guess a good start would be to follow the throddle linkage.... thanks guys

Try cracking the throttle open a little before turning the screw. That will take the load off of it and it should turn easier. Clockwise to increase idle speed...
