Mountain Riding in Washington State

Trip's quote (about riding in the mountains) at the end of his recent video really hit home. It inspired me to post these photos from a day ride we took last September with a group of about 15 bikes up to the summit at Washington's Mt. Baker.

I always give Taranis a hard time about posting photos from my area (he used to live and ride here, so he knows better than anyone)....but there is no mistaking how beautiful the Pacific NW is in the summer and early fall and no denying how enjoyable riding in this ultra-rich environment truly is.

Here in the NW, we have oceans, mountains, rivers and deserts all easily within a days ride. Hwy 20 over the North Cascades in late summer is nothing short of spectacular! Pack an overnight bag for a day or two and your senses will be treated to a scenic feast fit for a King :)

Here are just a few mountain photos to wet the appetite...enjoy... ;)

You guys have got it made, Net. You may only get to ride a certain number of days a year....but the days you get to ride are well, well worth it with scenery like that.

I may need to "borrow" a couple of those shots for Desktop inspiration.

There is an event for 2010 that was posted up on the VROC forum that is being called the "Vulcanic Blast". I hope to be able to make it out there for that one to experience the scenic beauty first hand.

Rich,
If you (and/or) Schoeney can make it up here this summer, I will glady take you on that ride. It is about 240 miles round trip from my house...so it's a good days ride by the time you stop and gawk, have lunch....etc. The ride up the mountain itself is truly amazing...

Hey Kris,
Nice photos!!
Don't forget to let me know when you're doing that ride. My "cabin" is on the Mt. Baker Hwy. just a "stones throw away" from "the smoke" tavern, on the way up from Sumas WA. The area is one of the most beautiful areas I've ever seen. I'm very fortunate to have my piece of real state in the area. I'd welcome any and all that want to drop by through out the riding season. You just have to drop me a line. I'm up/down there almost every weekend throughout the year, especially in the summer months.

I wont forget you Rick.... ;)....we gotta hook up this summer for a ride or two for sure. You got room at your cabin for overnight guests?
