Fix for Adding Oil Cooler, sending units to oil system....

I've been riding my Nomad for a few years now with a mess of sending units beside my oil filter. I had the bike up on the lift fixing a oil seepage problem under the left side cover.
I was cleaning and scrubbing the bottom of my cases, cleaning all that road mess off.
I look at my alien shrub of sending units coming outta that one hole, I just couldn't take it anymore. It was seeping slightly, oiling down my air ride compressor.
I had seen this sandwich plate a few years back, threw one in my big toolbox, with plans to clean up the space by my oil filter.
https://www.amazon.com/Mishimoto-MMO.../dp/B004UVL6T4

This plate fits between the oil filter and the engine case, adding 3, yes folks, count them, 3 more 1/8" oil ports.
Got things replumbed, reran my wires, now I have a port for my low oil pressure cutoff, one for my light, and one for my gauge. Best thing now I don't worry about breaking a Y or T off from road debris....
You can even add a small oil cooler if wanted.....or needed, by using one of their other sandwich plates.....

Pretty slick idea, but is the oil filter what holds it in, or does it mount to the engine case, then the filter mounts to it?

The round threaded adapter that screws onto the oil filter pipe, pilots inside the adapter (Hex on oil pipe adapter tightens agianst the sandwich adapter), then the oil filter screws onto that.....
No, the sandwich adapter doesn't fall off when you change your filter....its held firmly against your bikes crankcase....by the adapter fitting....

Maybe this will help you see how its fastened down....

Poppy, next time my bike is up on the lift, I'll snag a couple of photos of it installed, I'm too busy riding right now....

I could see adding something like this to my 1600 project:
https://www.amazon.com/Acouto-Filter...JEWPM3KFCY2A6N

Then add an oil cooler like the ones common to a Honda XR650:

After 2 years, no leaks, and no problems.....
Right where my oil sending unit went, I installed a tee, one side of tee feeds my oil pressure sending unit, other side feeds a oil pressure cutoff switch. Should my oil pressure fall below a certain level, it kills my ignition....and then the auto gage sending unit for my oil pressure gauge also screws into the sandwich plate....

After adding oil cooler base, I put my safety switch directly on the base eliminating the tee at the oil sending unit....Its a unit off a chevy vega, preset st 4 psi. Oreilly has them and are less than $10....
After installation, I ran my hoses just to the inside of my frame tubes under my engine, using zip ties every 8 inches, up front to just below the coolant radiator.
I have a piece of SS Screen to protect my regulators and oil cooler from rocks and road debris....thrown up my my front wheel....

So what size oil cooler did you install, like how many rows and overall dimensions? And, after installing the cooler what oil temps are common for your style of riding? Since a Vulcan is fully water cooled (not just the heads like the HD Rushmore) it already runs a more consistent temperature, though I wonder what that is. If the oil stays between 150 to 200 degrees I'd say the oil cooler is a benefit.

I pulled the oil cooler off a old shovelhead I had.... all by itself, its 4" tall by 10" wide, like I said, off a old 70's ElectraGlide....its a Lockhart....
I used the sandwich plate, custom fabed up some SS braided lines, mounted by my regulators....
