Car Tire Air Pressure on your Nomad

I would imagine that different tires might have a different sweet spot, but what air pressure do you run?

If you don't mind, post what tire you have and your air pressure in a message reply too.

Car Tire Air Pressure on your Nomad

I'm running 26 psig in the Dunlop SP 5000. Haven't tried it any lower than 26. Happy where it is. Soft ride and handles really well. No excessive wear in the center as others have noted running above 30. To be honest, no wear evident at all. I have to remember to get a tread gauge next time I'm at an auto parts store or Wally World.

Car Tire Air Pressure on your Nomad

I'm running a Vredestein Comtrac light duty truck tire. Size 175/75/16. Currentlly at 34psi but I'm still in the lowering stages to find whats right for me. I'm lowering 2 psi at a time and run a tankful of gas at that setting. So far I have noticed that as I'm reducing psi the ride is starting to feel softer. Tire not jumping over bumps but absorbing them. I'm guessing I'll end up around 28 to 30.Time will tell.

Achelles ATR Sport 195/55 R16. 26 psi one up. 27 psi two up. I now have over 18,000 miles on this tire and it is getting pretty thin in the middle. The edges still have plenty of tread. Very even wear all around. No weights or Dynabeads. The balance was right on when they installed the tire.

Running the Goodyear Assurance TripleTred. The "cold" PSI depends on the time of the year. My "sweet spot" is, after the tire heats up, 32 psi. In the hotter months, my cold psi is 27~28 psi, and in the cooler months, it's around 30 psi. I have one of those tire pressure monitoring systems, and it makes it real easy to keep up with. I've also noticed that the pressure, and temperature variance in the CT, is substantially less than it was in the MT.

sp 5000 running 31 psi right now. put 36 in it running heavy loaded, pulling a trailer to sturgis last year, and started showing some center tire wear. will still get more miles outta this tire, than stock stoner, but wont run that much pressure again.

18,000 and getting thin in the middle. Like thin enough to need to replace? i have not done much research on the car tire yet, but was debating to go to it when my stock tires are ready. But isn't the purpose of the car tire to get like double this amount yet?

It's getting thin enough to start thinking about a new one. I was only getting about 6,000 miles out of a motorcycle tire, so this is already three times as good. I may get another 2K out of it. Also, this tire was $54 plus shipping, so it may not have the wear of a better quality tire.
