Very Interesting.......
Living outside of Detroit, the one time homicide capitol, I really hope MawKaw uses Polycarbonate/Lexan materials.

Stock nomad windshields are Polycarbonate plastic. They are very impact resistant, judging by the number of things that have hit my windshield over the years. Look at the inscription on the windshield that says Made In Japan, with the part number, and below that you'll see the letters >PC< meaning polycarbonate.
This windshield (just the plastic) costs about twice what an acrylic one costs. I also wear polycarbonate plastic eyeglasses. Not only are they strong, they have a very high index of refraction, allowing them to be much thinner than ordinary plastics or glass. They also cost twice as much as acrylic or glass lenses. I used to work for a company that made (among other things) bullet-proof bank windows. We used to test samples between some dirt berms, way out in the back 40 on the factory property. One of our engineers was also a gun dealer on the side and he used to come in with 12 Ga. Street Sweepers and 50 cal rifles and Tec-9's and just blast the crap out of that stuff. It's pretty amazing what 2" of laminated plastics will actually stop.
