You must have had a bare bones 800. Mine has cruise control, good seat, windshield, crash bars, with footrest, running lights, vance hines exhaust, bought the bike at a little over 1000 miles and have never replaced front or rear brakes. It all depends on how you ride your machine. I like the reserve gas tank, dont have it on my nomad, bored out the carb, fuel injection nomad. Mine was the vulcan classic 803 cc.

How much does the Beemer weigh to be 500 lbs lighter? My Kawi ZX10R was barely over 400 lbs wet weight, does the Beemer weigh close to that?

my 1600 nomad had 818 on the title. With the fairing and tourpak I'd figure close to 900. The 1500 Nomad is lighter than the 1600 Nomad. My RT is 570.

Yeah I was thinking around 900ish too with accessories. I didn't figure the beemer was near as light as any sportbike, so the numbers sounded a bit off. Maybe 250-300 lbs lighter at the most. Unless trunk and fairing were fabricated from plate steel lol.

I sold my Voyager and bought an FJR which was about 200 lbs lighter.
The FJR felt like a bicycle after having the Voyager.

People that like them, like them a lot. About 30 HP down from the R/RT/GS engine of that year, detuned because it's a cruiser model. The engine will probably last forever. It also doesn't have the paralever suspension out back. If I was going to buy and older BMW, I'd probably get this:

or this:

And if I won the lottery, something like this:

I looked at these bikes (R1200 clc) when I bought the Nomad I liked them , now I own one. My nomad with the wompus rack Hd tourpak and Reckless fiberglass fairing was pushing if not over 1000 (especially with the tools air compressor and other junk I carried) (will try to hold down the junk in this one) the 1200 feels like a toy
