I bet if you price it higher it will sell quicker. At the price you have on it most guys would think there is something seriously wrong with it.

Thanks for the selling tip! As my post has been hijacked by pints, bricklayers, mules, Victories, Harleys and general cost of living discussions, methinks I'll reconsider how I've marketed this bike!

OOPS! Didn't mean to sound bent out of shape! I've gotten some chuckles out of this and I like that folks are discussing things. I shouldn't write when I'm in-between headaches (I mean deadlines) and haven't had lunch.

As an update, I've located a speedo from a 1997 Vulcan VN1500 that will fit the Nomad. So I'll have that fixed. That should add at least 5k to the price!!!

It's astonishingly hard to find speedometers for this bike, unless you're willing to spend $390 bucks (ouch). I can locate everything else pretty easily---but the meter? No way.

Mine has been chattering away for the last few day's, a really annoying chirping sound,it stop's when i push down and forward on the glass,so i took the cowl off,(those 2 plug ins are a pain in the arse aint they, barely long enough to reach) and wrapped some insulation tape around the speedo where it sit's in the cowl,it worked for about an hour,i took it off again and put more tape on,same result,3rd time, getting better, tomorrow if it dont get cured with more tape i am going to weld the bastard

So the handful of us green '99 Nomad drivers can be seen around the globe uncomfortably pressing on the speedometer, frowning, as we rattle down the byways of our choice.

I thought I was the only one! I wonder if the red and black ones do the same thing?

That's the problem with Japanese brands. Trying to find spares is a bitch.

Mine red and wine 99 is also starting to rattle. I think it's because of the two rubber grommets that the cowl slides into getting brittle and coming apart.

Do you reckon that's because they dont end up in breaker's yard's as much as some other bike's.

Aren't a common salvage

Oh I don't know; I've never had trouble finding parts for this bike, and I haven't had to find many. The meter is the first thing that's given me a fit, and they are plentiful if you don't mind paying the full shelf price for a new unit. It's trying to find a good, used part that's tricky: they just aren't around because the Nomad isn't salvaged very often. Once in awhile I'll see a whole bike parted out on eBay; not too often.

I wrapped tape around the pole's that fit into those grommit's and put an extra washer on the end of them so that they pulled up really tight, but still i got the chirping, but having said that i reckon you are on to something there mate, because that is about all that it can be now,i think i will give them a squirt of WD40 and see if that cure's it.

Hey Mick.
I can remember when a pint of mild was 1 shilling and 10 pence and a Newkie Brown was 2 shillings ! I can also remember when cod and chips was 10 old pence. That's 24 portions of cod and chips for a pound !!!! A brand new Honda 50 was 96 quid !

A brand new Austin Mini was not much more than a Triumph Bonneville in the 60's !
