Engine Guard Chaps

A friend of mine removed his engine guard chaps from his bike after three months and found that his guard had begun to rust under the chaps. Has anyone else found this to be a problem??? :-/

No I have not had that problem, but I don't leave them on all the time. I will remove the chaps when it gets warmer, then we wash them really good.

Engine Guard Chaps

Ive owned my Airlites for about 2 yrs and leave them on all winter and off in the warmer months. No problems down here and its humid all the time. Not sure why his did that.

Airlite and I have no problems here. If anything gets wet, it's removed to dry.

Engine Guard Chaps

I have had pH Customs on all winter for two years & there has been no problems at all.

I DO NOT ride in the rain & I DO remove them when I wash the bike.

Maybe he had a chip or scratch in the engine guard allowing moisture to get under the chrome. I would be willing to bet the rust is on the front side of the guard.
