Smart cap seems like a good idea to me!
So I just ordered some on Ebay. $34.95
I will let you all know how they work out.
I got a set of these and installed them on my bike. Basically set the tire pressure and install the caps. They will flash red if PSI goes <> 4 psi from where they were when installed. Battery supposed to last 3 years and will flash yellow if they need changing. Battery is user serviceable. requires a secuity key to remove them. The caps dont stick out on either front or back of the wheel on my Nomad. I havent noticed any wheel balance issues since installing them. They say to use a drop of oil when installing as anti seize. Probably could use teflon tape also. They also offer some sort of roadside coverage for towing, fuel and battery jumps for a year. So far so good.

Follow up. The front was just wide enough to barely rub the inside of the front brake caliper housing. I was able to rotate the stem a little and it resolved the issue. Stay tuned.

Uh oh, just checked and front tire was flat. Looks like the sensor has developed a leak. Rear is fine. I have sent a warranty replacement email. I will follow up on their customer service shortly. Stay tuned.

Yes, the light was indeed flashing red. That at least proves the things work.

I talked to their engineer today and they are going to send me a replacement unit. He thinks that the front brake caliper struck the cap, cracking the top and allowing it to leak. I was told to turn the metal stem and verify clearance.

New one is on its way. I will let you know what I had to do to install it.

I also installed the LED caps.
So far so good.
What I dont like about em is that you have to have a special key to get them off or on.
So, should you ever lose that so called "anti theft lock/key", you are in deep shit as you would have no way to get caps off should you need to put any air in tire.

could you keep the key in the saddlebag? or perhaps safety wire it to the bike somewhere?

If you read on their site, it says you can get them off be squeezing the sides with a channel lock. I dont know if it screws them up or not. Im going to carry some standard caps just in case. The key is so small I am afraid Im going to lose it.

Did you have any scrubbing of the cap on on the inside brake caliper housing up front? I think thats what got mine. I rotated the stem a little and it clears just fine.

I was also worried thet it would cause some tire wobble but I havent noticed anything.
