Removed The Sidecar Today

Hey you all. Today I unbolted the side car from BnG. I had built a wheeled platform to rest the sidecar on. It works real well. I just got the bug for riding a real Nomad for awhile.

I was prompted by an old friend from Washington State who is riding the Four Corners during September. I'll be hooking up in Duluth, MN on Sept 8, will jump off into Canada at Saint Sault Marie, and over to Madawaska, Maine, and then after going south, I'll peel off in Pennsylvania somewhere and head back to Gowrie, IA. When I will be riding with the group, there will be three other bikes. I can hardly wait, but there is a lot to do to get ready.

Gotta go buy a new battery for my bike tomorrow as I have been getting electricity from a deep-cycle boat battery located in the sidecar. It sure won't fit under the seat!

I better go get my passport out of the bank lock box!

Cool!! This must mean you are back from your trip visiting friends and family!! We went through Gowrie on Saturday but didn't think you would be back home.

Monday morning (Sep 7th) I'm taking off for Duluth, MN. I'll be staying at the Americinn Hotel at Proctor, MN. My riding partners will be looking for me there as they are driving down Hwy2 from Detroit Lakes, MN.

Everything on BnG has been fixed or replaced. I still have to throw in some clothes, etc in the bags. I'm bringing the bike cover, but when I look at all the stuff I've got, maybe I can leave it home.... not.

Well, if you don't hear from me for awhile... the Mounties have me! Anytime I come back into my country from Canada, it feels really good to get back!! I remember one time I was coming back to the US from BC and I told the U.S. guard that I was so glad to get back to "my country"! The guy laughed. They probably hear that all the time.

My wife and I celebrate our 49th anniversary on Sep 17th. Hope I get back in time!

I didn't make the trip! Got very ill in the first morning as I was waiting for friends near Duluth, MN. I let them know and I went home. I've been sick and weak even until now and it's been the 5th day. BTW.... traffic was horrible in Minneapolis! BNG
