1700 Nomad

Has anyone out there debaffled the mufflers on 1700 Nomad. It would appear that this won't be an easy project.

There are several threads about this here. Here is a link to a search on "debaffle" for the 1700's.

Not hard at all. About took me longer to get tools out and put away than actually do it.

Getting ready to do it too to my Voyager. Need a 1 1/4" hole saw and 18" extension to drill through two plates on each muffler. Everyone says ez and sounds great. After that is the cat....that is NOT ezy but most have stopped at the first two plates with good results.

Have done this procedure three times now. With enough extensions and a GOOD bi-metal hole saw, you can get through all three plates and the packing material for the CC. The CC material is two layers about the same length as the depth of the hole saw. You will feel is as you get through each layer. With cordless drill and two batteries, it took me an hour per side... Waiting for batteries mostly! :)
I too like the sound.

Ride safe,
Smokier

I also did baffles in stages -- on right side finally took muffler off to get third baffle and took the entire cat out --- was ok but later put on V n H muffs that I like better --- one guy riding behind me said there was a red light in the rt muff. that was the cat glowing before I took it all out
