Hi everyone. Just got my 2011 Nomad 1700 in November. Didn't really ride it much cause it was 0c here in Toronto when it was delivered. Just rode around the block then straight to the garage. I traded my Vstar 1100 which really had my foot flat on the ground sitting on it while the Nomad is kind of higher and a lot heavier. I'm only 5'5. I'm also looking for a luggage rack if anyone here has some used one I can scavenged? Anything you experienced Nomad owners advice about this bike will be much appreciated.

Hello and Welcome.
There is a new member section about half way down the homepage.
You might want to introduce yourself there.

Something you might notice is if you have a motorcycle jack it might not work on the 1700 Nomad. The frame rails are wider apart than some motorcycle jack lifting rails. There are 2 engine oil drain plugs on the 1700. If you don't remove them both you will leave quite a bit of dirty oil in the engine. If you experience a noisy drive belt it is usually because it is too tight. Some 1700 owners have experienced leaking rear shocks, mostly the drive belt side for some unknown reason.

Pick your spot for turning around, these bikes are very heavy !

welcome from Manitoba. Enjoy your ride. I think my Nomad handles and turns better than my 2010 Road King. Certainly easier to get off the side stand. You will love it.

Welcome from MA. I have a 2010 Nomad. The reason that you're not sitting flat footed is because the transmission sticks out on the right side and kicks your foot out so that you can't put it down flat. You have one foot flat and the other on the toes. You'll get use to it.
