We weren't supposed to get rain today, but about an hour ago a big storm hit here. Thunder set off my truck alarm 3 times. That's a doozy of a storm. It quit raining about 5 minutes ago, and the streets are almost dry.

This means the local stations will be tripping over each other with their "team coverage" of rain. Seriously, some reporter will be out standing by a puddle reporting on the rain. It's asinine.

Oh don't get me started. A storm front can come thru and all 3 major channel out of memphis will interupt programming to tract the storms all evening. .....scares folks...half of dyersburg will show up at the local hospital to stand around most of the evening in the hospital basements...trying to wonder into places they don't need to be causing security havoc...just to leave cause nothing ever came of the storms.......the biggest mess is the mess the people leave in the basement....why put stuff in a trash can when you can toss it on the floor...LOL

CJ, the idiot weather teams do it here also. They use a little bad weather to showboat themselves and equipment and panic the old folks. About 2 months ago they did so many cut-ins and sensationalized a storm so badly that when they advised people to take shelter in bat tubs and interior rooms one older lady living alone stayed in her tub for over 4 hrs. No tornado was ever spotted.

I can see making a big deal about a tornado or possible tornado. That can be life-threatening. But they go nuts here when it rains. Just rain. Of course all we have for weather is heat and occasional rain.

It's going to be chilly today. I should have brought a jacket. The high is only supposed to be 106.

If it wasn't for the weather, what would we have to complain about?

Those TV weather people in AZ have an easy job.

"The weather today is going to be HOT. Highs in the low 100's"

Repeat the above about 360 times a year.

The weather people in Hawaii probably the easiest job: Sunny today, high of 83. Same tomorrow, same next week...

Come on Scott.

Those weather people sit there for months in Arizona just itching to break out the NEXRAD RADAR. I always said the reason the weathermen are only shown from the waist up during the RAIN ALERT is because they already pee'd their pant they're so excited that they can break out the high dollar RADAR equipment.

Works the same in the Midwest with thunderstorms and snow.

CJ, You would need to see those knuckleheads standing in 100+ mph winds when a hurricane makes landfall. One day we'll get to see a sheet of tin decapitate one of those idiots.

CJ, yep the weather yo-yo's are going to get to use the radar. ::) Supposedly we are going to get the edge of the hurricane that is down in Mexico, it should rain over the weekend, :'( That will be some of that funny wet stuff we haven't seem much of this year. :-/ We will have to break out the cold weather gear since it is only predicted to get to 97 on Sunday.

For those that have never been in the Phoenix area during a rain we do have to be careful for awhile after it starts. All the grease, oil, grime, and dirt on the road actually makes them slicker than ice until it gets washed off. The low areas and washes flood quickly which is why they passed the "stupid motorist law" (it really is called that) a few years ago. People are constantly driving around the signs, then their car gets stuck and floats away. Trying to save these people is costly and dangerous.

Anyway, maybe it is a sign for us that the temperature is going to drop into a more reasonable range. The 110+ is getting to be really annoying.

Here's the statement we heard all this summer so far.
Dry today with a chance of a POP-UP shower. It seems like every day there is a chance of a POP-UP shower.
I really get sick of hearing it.
Most times that CHANCE turns into a downpour while we are riding the bikes :(
