2 Night Vermont- Adirondack Mountain Ride

I’m planning a 2 night ride through Vermont into the Adirondack Mountains.

I’ve heard rooms are booking up already so will post what I have now.

The dates:
Leaving August 8th
Returning August 10th.

Day 1
Meet time will be at 9am at the Bluebonnet Diner – Northhampton, MA

Breakfast from 9am-10Am

Anticipated arrival time in Burlington, VT is 4pm.

Meeting location TBD later.

Hwyrider (Neil) and Bigred (Martin) will be staying over in Burlington and making it a 1 nighter. A friend and I will be riding into Canada. We will be Leaving Burlington after a late lunch early dinner traveling up Rt 2 through the islands of Lake Champlain to the Alburg / Noyan border crossing. Were only staying in Canada for a short time just to say it was an international ride, something my friend really wants to do. The final destination on day 1 will be in Plattsburgh, NY.

Day 2

300 miles riding through the Adirondack Park. I’ve created 2 routs. I’ve never been up there so any input for the most scenic and enjoyable ride please let me know which rout would be best or come up with another rout. I want to have a hotel options in place within a week or so.

Day 3 Home for Laura and I

The ride is open anyone.

Depending on who is going and where they want to meet up with us along the trip I’ll come up with a few official stops along each of the routs. For now I’m trying to get a handle on who might want to go, the best rout while in the Adirondacks and hotels in either Amsterdam NY or Whitehall NY area.

The maps have a few little bumps in them but I wanted to get them posted.

Hope to see more than 4 of us on the ride.

Just booked a room at the Days Inn in Colchester, VT. Nothing was left at their Burlington location. May be a little pricey for some folks. With tax it was 180.62 and is a non refundable reservation.

Here's the info for Days Inn

I see on one of your trips you are going to be on route 86 near Lake Placid.
If you like BBQ Ribs, The Tail of the Pup is a must stop.
They also have Lobster but I have never had that there.

I tell my wife I'm staying in a 180.00 per night hotel she might want to go. (only kidding) I'm looking in the 60-80 range just a clean bed, hot tub would be nice but for that price range I'll probably need to bring my own straw to make bubbles.

Thanks for that info Top Cat I'll start to make a list of places to eat.

Thinking about coming

The Air Force base is in Plattsburgh so I'm sure you'll find a cheap room. Maybe not a clean bed but clean sheets.

I think Vermont is a helmet required state. Someone from up there can confirm that. Not sure what NY or Canadian helmet laws are.

NY has a helmet law, must be worn while riding.

UPDATE:

I talked to my friend Laura and decided to cancel going into Canada. We felt not everyone would want to go though the trouble of getting a passport. We also felt we wanted to take in the sighs along the rt 2 byway from Vermont to NY with perhaps a few stops and not rushed.

From Burlington VT the ride will continue along the Rt 2 byway across the Lake Champlain AKA Crown Point Bridge to Rt 11 and south on Rt 9 still staying in Plattsburgh , NY.

Anyone that would like to join the ride for the 2nd day though the Adirondack Park I'll post details when I book a hotel in Plattsburgh later this week.

Any suggestions is always appreciated.

Looking for suggestions on a decent place to eat in the Burlington/Colchester VT area. Both dinner and breakfast. Would prefer breakfast in Colchester.

That won't work. You can only buy that beer Monday thru Friday at certain locations.
