car tire help

I believe I read where isiahsdad successfully used a Dunlop SP5000 195/60/16 car tire on his 99 Nomad 1500. My bike is a 98 classic 1500 which is in need of a new rear tire. Would really like to get in touch with him to discuss any problems he may have encountered. There is not much help on the dark side forum concerning my year and model bike so I'm hoping someone who has already done this will speak up.

I don't know, Isiahsdad hasn't logged on here since back in January. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for him.

I have a 2004 1500 and I just put a Dunlop SP 5000 195/60 r16 on this week and took it for my first spin today. Everything works great. Takes a little getting used to... it's way smoother over the bumps so far.
I put the tire on myself and had no problems whatsoever. You need to put the tire on the bike without any air pressure after you set the bead on the rim.
I know it's not a 98 or a classic but it is a 1500...

How wide is the rim where the tire beads seat? If it is the same as a 1500 Nomad it should work i would think. I run that same tire on a 1600 which is a bit wider.
