Dual Fire?

I know this has been hashed about ALOT.. BUT I cannt find the threads,,, I know we have Dual fire ignition,,, and some HDs have Dual fired as well ,, so I would assume the dual fired HD Tachs would work on the NOMAD??? I have HD risers coming and if the spacing is right,, HD hace a Riser mount plate that holds the Tach... like 60$,,AS you can tell Im no gear head ,,, HVAC systems Im fine but this stuff well not too smart LOL
Thanks Rich

Dual Fire?

I installed a Harley "single fire" tach, and hooked it up to one coil (left) and it works perfectly.
I know the 900 and the 2000 have dual fire, but it was explained to me, that we have single fire, dual coil, ignition systems, so that's why I tried the single fire tach, and it worked. ;)

....hey Rich.....I'd sure be interested in what you have in mind for gauge mounts. I have been looking for quite a while and the ones I found were very expensive. I was hoping to find mounting cups that look somewhat similar to the look of a tach.
Anyhoo, let us know what you are coming up with!! :)

Lomax,If you have HD risers look at these,, I have 4" HD Pull Back risers coming!!

A idea I have,, see smoke coming out of my ears :),,, HD makes 1" tall risers, If mounted on the handle bars sideways they may make a nice mounting bracket,, Yhey are chrome and usualy cheap.. at least cheaper the Kuryakyn P Clamps,, WHICH are real nice,, I playin on paper to see if a small Gauge dashboard would look OK off the windshield or bars.... I draw it up better and post!!! Rich

Rich, you don't have to remove tank to wire the Tach to the coil.......but it is easier if you do. If you decide not to take off tank, just loosen the two bolts holding the coil.
Its a 20 minute job.

THANKS for the info,, I never did it before...The coil is easy access with the tank up is a good thing,, I raised the tank when I ran a HOT wire that way for my Spots,,,,,,Rich

I do not have HD risers but I kinda get the jist of what you are thinking. I'd be interested to see how that all works out. good price you paid for that tach, tho! For myself, I was kinda thinking of separate gauges, similar to the pic below. The pods, or buckets for these gauges are expensive. The pic is a bit small but you will get the idea.

Yeah Doc, I have the Phat 2's and a cheap tach mounted between the risers. The tach only cost$50 on Ebay but works fine.
