Rode the 103 ci Street Glide home

Hi All,

You know I've never hidden my affection to H-D's various bikes most notably the touring bikes.

So I got off work early last Friday and went to Deeley's. There's this beautiful all black 103 ci Street Glide parked outside, waiting for me.

So I go in, the sales guy is extremely friendly. He gets the formalities done real quick. We go out, he familiarizes me with the instruments and the built-in stereo then hands over the keys.

So it's only me and the 'Glide, I fire her up. My heart rate goes up a little bit. The motor is shaking at idle, we gotta go.

So we pull out, pull out hard. We get on HWY 1. We cruise over the second narrows bridge. The 'Glide is compact, 103 ci motor is powerful, shifting is positive and crisp, the stereo adjusts to my speed.

So I figure, I take the long way home. I turn off to Deep Cove. I turn off the stereo. I listen to the horses, listen to the mufflers. Very pleasing sound.

So it's time to go home. The 'Glide climbs our hills gracefully, lots of power to spare.

So we get home, my neighbour gives me and the "Glide a look. I take a look at my watch. Geez, I'm running late, gotta take the 'Glide back to the dealer.

So that is my test ride that I had a rain check for. Unfortunately my wife couldn't see the 'Glide. I think I'm gonna have to repeat this "ride the 'Glide home" procedure again.

Riders view:

Probably I mentioned this before, the Road Glide is my favourite ever since I test rode one last year.

So I went to Barnes this morning for the regular demo ride. They didn't have the 2011 Road Glide I've been wanting to ride but they had the all new FLTRU Road Glide Ultra.

So I signed up and got a spot in the 3rd ride. The first ride is about to leave and nobody is riding the Sportster Super Low.

So I take the Super Low for a spin. The wind is blowing cold and hard, the sporty is fun to ride but it gets buzzy at hwy speeds.

So it's my turn to ride the Road Glide Ultra:

The Road Glide Ultra feels spacious and luxurious. The motor sounds good, so do the pipes. The Ultra handles great in the parking lot, accelerates smoothly, runs smoothly. I think I want to ride this bike home.

The new engine is obviously more powerful than the 96 ci.

So I had a great time testing the 2011 FLHX Street Glide and the 2011 FLTRU Road Glide Ultra.

It was a great day out on my Nomad:

Cheers,

E.

Elvis....
Something tells me that Nomad won't be parked in your garage for too much longer. I'm not sure why I think that....just a gut feeling.... ;) !

Ride whatever bike makes you happy my friend....that's what it's all about!

A person might as well ride what they want. If that is your thing I say go for it.

Great looking bikes and I am sure they are well built. I may own one someday.

But I ask, at twice the price, is it twice the bike? If it gives you twice the pleasure, maybe you should go for it.

Geezus, I thought I got onto a Harley forum by mistake.
I wondered why this site is so Slow lately. Now I realize it is 'cause of all the HD stuff on here.

Harley or non-harley, it's all about the wind, road, rubber and steel. And enough gasoline, too.

Cheers,

E.

If I were going to get a HD it would be a road glide ultra because it stands out from the other HDs. Don't need a light bar, aerodynamic fairing. I better shut-up
