Another Man Down!

My Day started out really nice but around noon hour it took a turn for the worse. I was on a ride about 90 miles from home to pick up archery supplies for the kids at school. Coming home about 40 miles away my bike went into a voilent speed wobble on the highway and I was thrown off. I was taken away by ambulance and they did a pile of x rays. Spent the rest of the day in the hospital. Thank
god I decided to wear my full face helmet at the last second as I was leaving home, or I probably wouldn't have much of a face left. I had a leather Jacket that was literally shredded along with my pants and gloves. I ended up with a pile of road rash on both arms, shoulders, knees, and even a bit below my left eye from when my head hit the ground. Thats the good part, I also broke my Right wrist and left foot. The foot is not so bad but they say the wrist is a good break. I'll be off work now for at least six weeks while this stuff heals. The bike is a total writeoff from what I remember,it tumbled and pieces flew off everywhere. I have to see a orthopedic surgean tomorrow and I'll try to see the bike as well.
Time for some rest and a painkiller, Im starting to stiffen up pretty good the last couple hours.

Steve, glad to hear you made it without too much damage. Take it easy and hope you heal quickly. I was looking forward to meeting you in Maggie Valley, maybe you can still make it.

Reminder to everyone, please, please be careful. We have had far too many accidents this year.

Steve, Sure glade you are ok relatively speaking. Must of been quite the "oh sh*t this is not going to end good " moment. Sounds like you were very lucky. Any idea what caused the wobble?

Ah geez Steve... I hated to read this.

I am so glad you had your helmet, gloves and leather on. While you were still beat-up pretty badly... I am almost assured it could have been a lot worse buddy.

Having just gone through a wreck at a much slower speed than you; I can only imagine what you went through.

Glad to hear you are relatively in good shape. You'll be sore; so take it easy for awhile. ;)

For other members; please consider wearing a helmet. When the chit starts hitting the fan... as Steve, CJ, and I will tell you... it happens real fast; and the pavement is extremely hard.

Glad it wasn't worse. +1 on the helmet. You didn't say how fast you were going but I have to assume a speed wobble didn't occur at a slow speed. Heal fast.

Seems CJ started an epidemic.

OMG, Steve - so sorry to hear about your crash. I hope your injuries aren't too serious and you have a speedy recovery. The bike can be fixed or replaced. You can't.

Hey! Let's be careful out there!

Bad news indeed. The violent wobble sounds like a flat tire. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Another Man Down!

When I got the call tonight from our friend Jim tonight about Steve I had no idea how bad or how lucky he really was.
I was strange to pull into Steve's driveway and not see the Bounty Hunter at his side.
He had an angel whisper in his ear today to wear the full face, coat and boots because he never does. Something to think about. I saw the helmet and coat and shuttered to think how bad this could of been.
The bike I have not seen yet but Jim and Steve will get her tomorrow and bring her home, he said she is gone but maybe we can save her.
Maybe there is something we can do for him.
Hey Buddy, you are all ways there to help us, now its our turn.
Your Friend.
Albert aka BanditAL.

Steve, I saw the title, opened it to read thinking it was a news story about some unknown rider who had gone down :-[
But to find out it was you man that SUCKS!!!!
I too am happy that your injuries are not life threatening, as from your description and the damage it well could have been a lot worse.
But also as others have said do you have any idea of why the wobble happened, but I know it was likely so fast you wouldn't have been able to nail that down.
Hope you heal quick. And you may be in Newmarket, but I'm not that far if you need anything....please ask...drop me a pm and I'll give you my cell.

Rest up and relax and heal!!!

Scott
