The population in your area must be real high.

deer season

I was in Myrtle Beach this past weekend, and Saturday night (or early Sunday) we were out riding and Amanda asked why I kept sounding the horn. I told her to look to the righ tthe next time she heard it. We must have seen 12-15 in about two miles.

The day I was hit on the Queen Charlotte's, it was a beautiful sunny day and in less than a 68 mi stretch between Queen Charlotte City and Masset. I saw at least 15 stands of anywhere from 5 -20 deer at each stand.
They were brought over to the island years and years ago by settlers. The issue is though,.... there are no predators to keep the population down. I don't think the native Indians allow shooting them either. As far as I know anyway. They are relatively smaller deer compaired to ones you might find on the mainland, up country.

When Al and I were driving down last week we were surprised by how many we saw laying by the roadsides. I bet we seen over a hundred. On the way home though we only saw about three or four.

deer season

Around here, deer season is all year long. It doesn't help that we have people in our sub-division that put out food for the blasted things. I guess they think it's cute to see them feeding in their front yard.

deer season

One of my coworkers hit a deer while riding his Harley. He was in critical condition for a week. The bike was totaled.
Deer are the most stupid animals I've ever seen.
One thing to keep in mind when riding at night. If you see one deer crossing, there is always one or two more trailing behind it. Be careful out there!

On Wednesday when Elaine was coming home from work she had a bear run across in front of her on the edge of town.

As Steve mentioned earlier, When we passed through PA on the way to Maggie Valley, there was probably more than 100 dead deer on the sides of the 81. Seemed like they never picked them up.
