You stereo guys and gals.....

Check out the link below and tell me what you think. Looks like a deal for the money. What do you think and is this all I would have to have to play my iPod through this system?
Thanks

I haven't seen this particular variation, but a year ago, I helped one of my buddies install an amp (no radio) with similar speakers on his 1500 Classic. He's still happy with it, although he says it's worthless above 60 MPH. He can't hear the speakers above that. He just plugs an iPod into it. So take that for what it's worth.

refugio has a similar looking setup. Not sure if it is the same but you might ask him what his is and how well it works.

Here is a youtube video of a guys setup of this very same stereo system. I didn't realize until it was pointed out that they do offer a 250 watt system for $120 but it does not come with a remote but you can order a remote for $10. I will probably go with the 100 watt system and save the $40. Check it out. Thanks

I bought the same one you linked to, and have gotten the speakers installed and purchased a windshield bag to put the radio/amp in and hide the wire tails. Next off day I will be putting power to it. The vendor shipped quickly and the unit was as described. I'll let you know how it sounds/performs.

As donguer noted, the same vendor has a 250w unit available for a few dollars more if you are concerned about 100w sounds getting "gone with the wind"

Guys, I'm not a power tech but, and I'm not looking to start a debate but as a guide to help you decide on power, the easiest way to figure power for speakers is watts divided by the number of speakers.
So essentially a 100 watt system is giving you 50 watts per speaker on this system.
Also there is RMS versus peak watts.

Thanks for the link. I ordered the 100W one today. I should have it up and running next week just in time for a Memorial day trip. I'll let you all know what I think.

We do have an expert member here if he pipes in with regards to RMS increase vs. db increase and it's not what most people think. A 100 watt amp is not 10x's louder than a 10 watt amp, it's not even anywhere close to being twice as loud. ::)

I have the $52 set on my bike from the same people, no radio option; I use my ipod. They got used today, had to ride about 40 minutes to an appointment. Is it a great system, not hardly, will it keep up with a faring mounted unit---nope, I don't use it everytime, ear plugs still sound better. This systems does give my ears a break from ear plugs on a long days ride. I use isolation plugs and they tend to irritate your ears after a couple hours of wear. Anyway, at 70 mph +, I can hear them, there is no bass what so ever, I can still hear the bike and the wind. I think you get a little more than what you pay for with these. They get you by when you want something simple, cheap, and you don't want lots of crap on your bars.

I have the same setup as refugio. I really like mine and have not had trouble with hearing it at highway speeds. It's from Motorcycle Tunes. I plug in my Ipod and off I go. I plan to get a Sirius radio at some point to plug into it.

I went and bought the 250 system with the remote. I'll let you know how it works. Although I may take a bit of time to mount it.

I can do electricity but it is a bit like the Psychiatirst changing a light bulb. It has to want to be changed and it takes a very long time.

I bought the black system rather than the chrome system. I think it will look better than just tacking chrome on wherever I can. But that is just me.

I ordered the 100 watt system today. I figured I would save the extra $40 on the cost of the 250 watt system for now. If I don't think the 100 watt does a good enough job I will put it on Ebay and order the 250 watt. "Peterdarby" do let us know what you think about the 250 system when you get it installed. Thanks
