Wheel Care

:'( I was changing my rear tire and decided to clean some oil from the wheel that had got on it from my bad rear seal. I used some brake cleaner I had laying around which was a REAL BAD IDEA!. The cleaner got the grease off but it also softened the clear coating on the wheel and made it "turn loose" in some spots. I guess now I need to finish stripping the coating and spray it with a good polyurethane clear. I had this happen a few years ago on my Miata (different cleaner) and I applied the polyurethane which still looks good today. So, if you go to clean those wheels, be careful what chemical you use. Once the coating is stripped off the wheel it is shiny chrome. You could just polish it but I would rather have the coating to protect it.

Wheel Care

Thanks for the good tip zoom, I have been using never-dull wadding and it seems to work well, hope it doesn't eat off finish like yours did.

Wheel Care

The only time I clean my wheels are when the bike gets a bath. The only thing I use is the Maguire's Deep Crystal car wash, and it works great on the bugs, road grime, and the wheels.

I like the Race Glaze products. Both wash and the wax.
