Garmin Zumo 550 Motorcycle GPS

I am selling my Garmin Zumo 550 Motorcycle GPS. I am finally getting more and more used to the GPS on my new 2017 HD Ultra Limited that is built-in to the fairing, so in all likelyhood will never use this unit again. It is specifically designed and made for use on a motorcycle. It is waterproof and able to stand up to the rigors and vibrations only a motorcycle can deliver.

It works like a champ and comes with a cradle mount, RAM chrome handlebar mount that fits both 1 and 1.25" bars, a RAM ball connector for maximum adjustability, a power cord that hooks to direct ignition power so that it turns on and off with the ignition, two security keys that lock it to the mount...and a cord to connect the unit to a PC for uploading routes and such. I also have some incidental stuff in the original box that I never used I can include, but you will have to download the manual from the link below as I can't seem to find that. There are tons of videos on YouTube to check out on the unit as well.

I also have a separate cradle mount that attaches to your cars windshield and plugs into the lighter socket (12v) for use in your auto. It suctions on tight and comes right off when not needed, a great added bonus if your car doesn't have GPS.

Even if you don't plan any routes on it, just having a moving map in front of you that you can easily zoom in or out is invaluable on a motorcycle as you can see and anticipate upcoming curves long before you come into them. You can also see side roads that might save you from sitting in a long traffic jam...! It also displays your true speed and I found it much easier to check my speed there than to divert my eyes onto the tank with the old Nomad.

I have found the most precise way to plan routes is to load waypoints directly to the unit then save the route. Routes planned on the PC then uploaded to the unit don't always take the exact same route as planned, but I think that is a common complaint for most GPS users. It is a real gem for traveling short or long distances and has taken me all over the western US on several bikes. I would never travel any distance without a GPS. It shows the closest food, fuel, lodging, etc. I thought I would offer it up here before turning to Craigslist where I'm sure it will get snapped up.

Long story, but yes. As you know, Polaris dropped the Victory brand altogether, so while it still had some trade-in value, I took the leap and bought a 2017 Ultra Limited Low. I may not have if HD had not just come out with their new Milwaukee 8 107 engine. That thing is a total redesign with water-cooled heads and is completely bad-ass. I've had to get used to the more cramped riding position, but overall I have better control with a shorter wheelbase...especially in slow speed conditions. I will post a few pics later. I looked at the Indian Roadmaster but one, it didn't really grab me like I thought it might and two, I wasn't about to give Polaris another 30k+ of my money after what they did to all Victory owners..... Had Polaris not dropped the line....the Cross Country Tour would have been my last bike for sure...but I still have time to pay off one more before retiring and I'm pretty sure the HD support system isn't going anywhere. Having a dealership every other block isn't a bad thing....!

I bought my final bike Nov. 2016, a Victory Kingpin 2011.
I don't plan on selling it so not worried about resale value.

Kris, how is the passenger area for your wife on the Harley?
I think she had a problem with the Kawasaki that's why you bought the Vic.
The Harley is even shorter isn't it?

That exactly what I was thinking when I read this. The Harley is definitely smaller.

Sorry guys. The Harley has more room than the Voyager plus there is some adjustment of the trunk on the Harley and none on the Voyager. Wife and I sat on a Voyager and it was done before even riding. Before any adjustment on the HD, we fit fine on there.

More room for who, the passenger maybe. I've rode a Voyager with wife on the back I need a little more leg room, and the wife filled the space between the backrests ( and she's small). I've sat on the Harley Ultras and there is no way I could ride it, my knees were above the tank. Wife wasn't with me so don't know about the passenger.

TC, the Harley certainly has a more cramped riding position for the driver, but the passenger room is much superior to the Voyager. I'm getting much more used to it and am really beginning to love it...!!
