Million Mile Club

While most of us will probably not accomplish this, what a great story, even if it was on a Honda. Picked this up off of the VROC forum this morning and immediately thought of Garry.

Now that is pretty hardcore! I just turned over 100,000KM (62,000 miles) on my Nomad which I figure is a big deal, but now seems pretty insignificant.

I had a 1975 Goldwing. At the time Honda did not have a stock fairing (or for a few years after) so it is probably a Vetter. That's what I had, although mine was white with gold swooshes. I think there were some other brands available, but I'm not sure. Also, he may have changed the fairing some time in the last 40-some years.

Early Gold Wings (mostly the early 1100s) had 2 fairings. The "base" Wings had a Vetter fairing (Windjammer) with a couple different styles of bags. The "upscale" Wings had Hondaline fairings which were more angular and looked more integrated. Technically, ALL early Wing fairings were Vetters as Vetter made the early Hondaline fairings. The very earliest Wings (GL 1000s) were only available as a naked/standard bike. No options for a fairing, bags or a trunk. Even the 1100s could be had naked. You had to order an Interstate or Aspencade to get any body work. The 1200s, 1500s and 1800s only came with stock body work. It's interesting to see how the Wings evolved from the original naked bikes to the Vetter fairinged (it's a word, I'm sure) 1100s to the fully integrated 1800s.
