Norton's first run.

My brother just finished restoring/rebuilding his Norton N15.It was good to go for a ride with him, after so many years.I was impressed with how well it went too.

Thanks mate. He'll be keeping it,thats for sure.He restored a pre unit Bonneville many years ago,but he and his wife had an accident on it,and he never rode it again. He sold it,which i know he regretted, especially when i visited on my Nomad. This was a short ride to the MOT station,to get his roadworthy ticket. He had'nt been on a bike for over 10yrs,but he climbed on,and rode it like stole it.Brilliant to watch.

That came out very nicely, Congratulations! I remember the pics when he first got the bike. He must have done a lot of hard work to get it looking like that again.

It came from America,as a box of bits & pieces, all of them in a pretty sad state.Total nut & bolt rebuild, took about a year of weekends to get where it is today.
This is what it looked like when finally had enough parts to throw it together.

That half a crown pocket money, pooled with my brothers, and saved for a few weeks, would buy all sorts of motorbikes back then.People were just starting to earn enough money to buy cars, and every other house had an old classic, ride to work bike in the shed.We had some amazing old bikes for less than £5.I think i paid £3 for an Excelsior Manxman ! £2 for an ex WD Matchless 350,and countless BSA's,Nortons ect.Good old days for sure mate.

My Norton Dominator was 55 quid. I bought a Triumph Thunderbird pre unit engine for 30 quid and put that in the Dominator for a while.

Fair play to you mate. My brother had the prettiest Thruxton Bonneville i ever saw.He had it done in Equatic Jade ( similar to the Candy Arsenate on the 99 Nomad) & Silver.A set of cowboy handlebars & high level pipes.I wish i had some photo's of it,but imagine those colours on this.

Will do mate.Thanks. Before he can ride it legally,he has to wait for the vehicle licencing dept to give it a registration number. That could take up to 6wks ! I ordered some stick on letters/numbers to make a registration plate, just in case he gets pissed off with waiting.
