These are the lines I am talking about. I do not have wear bars in the tread. Stock tires. Is that my wear bars? the missing lines? As you can see they are missing on the right of the pic Left from on the bike.

The lines you are pointing out are not wear bars, I'm pretty sure, just part of the design of the tire tread. I don't really see any wear bars in in your picture. If those are wear bars, they certainly are not industry standard.
The link that DraKhen99 posted has a really good picture of what wear down to the wear bar looks like. Usually they are offset from the center as in that pic. I'm pretty sure the Bridgestones that were on my bike when I got it had wear bars like those in the picture, but I don't remember for sure. Some brands (all brands?) have some sort of marker on the side of the tire to show where the wear bars are. |

Oh, btw, wear bars are required by law, so you must have some somewhere on your tires. Even car tires are required to have them. Just keep rotating the tires until you find them.

They are in the center groove of that tire. They are the small bumps you can usually feel them with a finger nail, or a small screwdriver dragged through the groove. There is only 4-6 of them, so rotate the tire to find them.
Zooming in on your picture looks like one between the bottom of the fender and first piece of tape.

Just went out and looked at mine. Same tire and almost new the only way I found them was a small screwdriver. Could feel the bump up, but really couldn't see it. When tire gets worn down it will be more see-able.

In looking at MBarr's photo, that *might* be a wear bar showing about an inch up from the bottom of the image in the center of the jog-to-the-right section. The angle and shading are such it is hard to be positive. If that is the wear bar, there is still some tread left.
*Disclaimer* What the heck do I know from a picture... Ride safe, Smokier |

Well DUH, they do not call them wear lines. It's wear bars. Thanks for all the input. I guess I'm good for a few more miles. Just like to be safe. So Thought I would ask.
