Just bought a reckless fairing

I just Put in an order for a reckless fairing. Now I need your help. I have chucksters 3" risers on my bike. Will they work or not. I talked to Budman about Chrystal's trike. It's a 1600 classic with 3" chucksters riser and it works great. I thought I read hear that they wouldn't work on a Nomad and I told Budman that. He thinks I read it wrong and its Phatt 2 that won't work with the reckless fairing. Well I have 6 to 8 weeks to get it right. Any input you guy have would be appreciated.

I had 2" Chuckster's risers on my 2007 and I had to remove them when I installed my Reckless fairing.

I believe Reckless made an adjustment in the design of the fairing at some point for risers. I know my fairing on my 01 wouldn't work with the Phatt's and I barely squeezed in some Harley style risers under the stereo on mine and then saw post from folks with newer fairings that seemed to be slightly different in design. These were the risers I could barely squeeze in http://www.jpcycles.com/product/5000090

To be specific, it was the area where the stereo sits that interfered with the risers.

I mounted my reckless fairing on my 2007 Nomad not too long ago. The risers I had on the bike at the time brought the handlebars straight up from the tree. I could mount the fairing, but it was going to rub and push rather hard against the risers. NOT my cup of tea. So, I ordered the Phat II risers ( with flames) and the fit is great! I even had room to slot the holes on the mounting brackets for the fairing and move the fairing back a bit (about 3/16) and still have clearance between the fairing and the risers. There is no adjustment on the fairing as shipped. This was necessary for me because my running lights are deep as opposed to shallow. With the Phat II risers mounted in the center hole and even a little taller and narrower set of bars than stock, I still had plenty of cable.

An added benefit is that turning from lock to lock nothing is hitting, BUT, the risers are so close to the ignition switch that I can't put the key in with the bars turned all the way left. However, when parked and the bars are all the way left and locked, it prevents the switch from being turned. Kind of a double anti theft set up. Not bad really.

Well I don't want to cheap out now but I don't want to spend money if I don't have to. If the Phatt2's are the only one that will fit for sure I'll buy them. The girl I talk to at reckless wasn't sure when I ask her. Paul what size are you risers

David, the Phat II's only come in one size as far as I know. The Phat risers have different sizes, but not the Phat II's. I got mine from Scootworks, just ordered the Phat II for 1600 Nomad and Classic. Four choices, blk, chrome, polished, flames. They are five inches from tree to bend, one more inch from bend to top of riser main body, and one more inch to the top of the "tie" piece that holds the bars in place. All together, mounted on the bike they are seven inches tall. The magic to the way they work with the fairing is in the shape. Being square and not having that oval shape of your typical bar mounts they come straight up and have no "bulge" where the bolts go through. This bulge is what hits the fairing. Like I said, I moved my fairing back at least 3/16 inch and still have a solid1/8 to 3/16 additional clearance between the fairing and the risers. And the risers turn well below the tuner mounting cut out. I don't see any issues mounting a stereo. If you have a little time, I'll try to send a picture. I have to find a nine year old to help me with the technology.

My bars are starting at the base, 11 inches wide from center to center of bend. The Next section coming up is 8.5 inches c to c. the grip section turns down slightly and pulls back slightly toward the rider. The spread tip to tip is 30.5 inches. They are the bars you see on my sig. pic. on the 1500.

Well I just ordered PhatII risers from scootworks. Chucksters risers have done me good. They were all I needed until I ordered my Reckless after all I road 9.5 hours to ride with Paul, Scott, Bill and ther wives in Texas. Now the BAD just sprained my ankle and the doctor said to stay off the bike for 3 weeks. This sucks July in Oklahoma and the highs in the Mid 80's and I can't ride.

Sorry to hear, David. With this cooler weather, I'm starting to think that we messed up by not taking some time off for riding. Good luck with the fairing and risers. It all worked out great for me.

David, please let me know how long it takes to get your phatt II risers from Scootworks. They had a flood and I was holding off on some Phatt II risers for fear they weren't shipping. Mid June, they said they had them in stock and were shipping. However they have had problems in the past with charging the credit card and not shipping for months. If you get yours right away, I will order. Does that sound like I am using you and cheaping out? lol

I'd be interested in knowing the difference in buffeting after you install the fairing. If it cuts down on the head shake I get i'd be interested in adding a fairing as well.

I went with the 8 inch windscreen just for that reason. I wish they ofered a recurved windscreen but they don't. After i see how it does with the 8 inch I may get a 5 inch recurve. It will be awhile before I post any thing about it sense it takes 6 to 8 weeks to get it.
