Empty Space... What to do?

I installed Chuckster's 2 1/2" risers on my '05 1600. I love the setup now, even though I have not been able to go for a ride due to rain and a bad battery (so my schumacher charger says).

So, in the mean time, I'm staring at the bike trying to remember some mods that I've seen on here. A couple pop into my little brain...

1) Add some rubber washers to the passenger backrest mounts to get rid of some of the vibration that drives my fiance crazy (makes her back itch and gets uncomfortable). --- DONE

2) Remove the smaller (2nd) windshield. The one that traps all the dust while riding and water when washing or raining. --- DONE

3) Since the risers squished my windshield bag, I had to remove it. I'm thinking about mounting it under the passenger backrest like I've seen some of you guys do.

But, I also like having the storage in front of me, because this is where I kept my garage opener and extra glasses. So, I'm looking for something to fill the empty void between the handlebars and the windshield where there used to be a bag there. Now it just looks empty and open. I've thought about leaving it open and getting a tank bib to hold the garage door opener.

So, what are your thoughts??? :)

Get a thinner windshield bag that will fit between the bars and the windshield. They make them in all kinds of different sizes.

A fairing will fill that space very nicely.

Smaller bag or the tank bag. Or a shirt or jacket with lots of secure pockets. I'm sure you will figure something out. Seems like you have accomplished a lot.

I have two black koozies zip tied in that space. Usually one holds my glasses and the other has my camera. I rest a water bottle between them. I zip tied my garage door opener to my front brake hose on all three of my motorcycles.. I also have a 12v cigarette lighter zip tied under clutch hose. (I guess I need to buy more zip ties.) :)

Some may laugh at this arrangement, but it is very practical and works for me.

Thanks for the input guys. A smaller bag? HMMM... I hadn't thought of that! (No offense, just having fun with you guys)

I do like the koozie idea. Went on a ride a couple of weeks ago and needed a spot to put a water bottle. That would have come in handy.

One day, I would like to put a fairing on, but funds are going to keep that from happening for a while.

You might consider a walley world ladies bag, which are thin. Mine simply sits there. It is not bolted to anything. I cut out some inside compartments and keep 4 pair of glasses in it, and roll aids. It has a cheap calculator and make up mirror built in, and these are dammnned handy. The back side has a pocket just right for a side stand plate too, and so far no other biker has mentioned it isn't a real screen bag.

You decide. best of all it is a real leather and cost 6 bucks.
