My Victory came with ABS and it's saved my bacon a couple of times already. I didn't feel I was missing anything until I had it. I don't care what anyone says, nobody is good enough to out brake a bike with ABS. There are too many things out there you can't prepare for (wet leaves, fresh paint, deer, etc).

It is not only the shorter stopping distance that counts, which of course it does, but if you don't or can't lock either front or rear brakes, your are much less Likely to go down.

Yes, but having been trained by police motor officer instructors, you can stop very well with either brake system. I have a 2006 Nomad.. I truly love this bike! However, it would be nice to have the option of having ABS on my ride....

You can. Just buy an ABS bike.

Yes, I like ABS on a bike. It's actually quite important... definitely can appreciate a bike that won't let me lock up the bikes on it. It's an high tech feature that needs to get sponsored more.
It brings a whole new level of confidence especially when it comes to riding in questionable weather with traction issues.

I have been through this ABS thing so many times I'm sick of talking about it.
So for once I am keeping my mouth shut

People do not need ABS brakes, do they Tim? Not when it is just as easy for them to stop a bike with perfect pressure on the front and back without causing wheel-lock while keeping the bike perfectly straight in an emergency situation occurring by complete surprise. Right?

It's easy to do 100% of the time... not 99% or 80% or 70% of the time, but 100% of the time in all situations -- doesn't matter. Skilled riders are 100% accurate.

I am going to go light a fire in the fireplace and sit back and relax knowing my new bike has an ABS system on it, because I am smart enough to know I cannot be 100% all the time when riding; and most certainly not in a fast-occurring emergency situation.

Just not possible for me to be that good. I know some claim to be perfect riders 100% of the time; which is why they do not like ABS apparently. They know they can be 100% correct with their skills in a flash of a moment whenever needed. But I am betting I am not 100%, 100% of the time.

I've always been told there is only two types of riders, those that have gone down and those that will go down. My current ride does not and yes I have lock up the wheel more than once, down side to living in Florida, especially living just out side of the largest retirement area (Google the villages Florida), and all the tourists that are out there. Oh did I mention that there are roads that they let these people drive golf carts on..? So yes I would have ABS if it was an option, which it was not for the 2012 model year Vaquero. I'm not going to trade my bike in for one but maybe my next ride will have it.

I was just trying to see if I could pry that mouth open so all those pent-up thoughts about ABS brakes would come spewing out!

I'll bet you lower lip is bleeding from biting your lip.

If I happened to be in the market for a new Victory or HD, ABS brakes would be a requirement. They work great on cars and trucks and IMO a person would be foolish not to take advantage of it. Traction control I'm not sure about. Had a bad experienced with it on a car.

I am not familiar with traction control on a bike. Seems it might cause a problem on two-wheels. Not so sure I would like it, but wouldn't really know yet.

ABS brakes are the way to go. I had a quick situation requiring heavy braking to avoid smashing into the rear of a car in town that slammed-on their brakes.

I hit the rear too hard and the wheel slipped-out. I was able to recover; but it was a close call, and I almost went down. I was convinced that very moment I needed to get a bike with ABS.

It simply is too difficult to be 100% accurate with separate brakes in an emergency. I have heard those who claim they can stop as good or better, but I must not be one of them.
