Be safe it's summer reminder

Just a shout out to everyone here whether you are going to the Estes Park Rally or not. With summer brings many people taking that annual summer vacation, and with that many of them will leave their brains at home with the dog .

So take the extra time and watch out for them , cause chances are they're not watching for us. Ride Safe.

dshelly, an excellent suggestion. Another reminder is "You Don't Have to Get There" or as many call it "got-get-there-itus." Last summer the weather took a turn for the worse and it was prudent to stop 120 miles early rather than pushing to get to the motel. Whether it would have cost me extra money or not wasn't an issue, fortunately I was able to cancel the reservation. It just wasn't safe for a rider to be on the road.

Two Russian videos worth viewing. When watching how they drive it is no wonder most of the cars have dash cams. They show just about every conceivable thing that will go wrong. The first one has more than one motorcyclist getting hit and probably explains why they appeared to be wearing heavier gear than most of us do on a normal day. Watching what happens when a wheel comes off or the debris flying everywhere is also an eye opener. Even some of the areas where it looked perfectly safe turned bad real quick. More than once my choice of an escape route would have set me up for even more trouble. To get the full effect watch them in full screen.

Let's hope there are no mishaps this year. No hurry, assume everyone out there is not paying attention, and have a safe ride.

My 2 cents worth on this topic.... HYDRATE. Its 97 here today! I am not riding since we are headed to the beach in a few hours for a well deservied vacation, but anyone out riding in the SE Region this week really needs to drink plenty of fluids and take extra breaks. Cover your seat also! I am sure the SW guys are used to dealing with this but its just nasty and humid here today. Everyone be safe....

Daytime temp inside my house hits 90° before the AC comes on. Expecting 111° (outside) today. 97° for a high won't happen around here again until September.
