While I do not take anything away from the cage-driver's guilt and obligation to punishment under the law... but do you think there could have been a chance this bike-rider was "ripping-it-up" with fast acceleration and speed to where "he came out of no-where" from the driver's perspective?

Again, I am not defending her, nor condeming the biker... just wondering if the rider was doing that or not.

Quite frankly, I have seen that happen to me before; to where a bike comes out of no-where rather fast -- enough to startle me... and if I hadn't been paying extra-close attention there just might have been a collision.

Anyway... don't want to start any arguements or fights here with the question... I was just simply wondering... ;)

I think that is a very fair way to approach it. We have all seen people ride bikes like idiots, and no doubt some/many of them get into accidents because of their carelessness. That doesn't mitigate the carelessness of car drives who drive stupidly (or drunkenly). Stupid uses all kinds of vehicles - cars, bikes, even wheelchairs!

I hope the person is punished severely. She deserves everything she gets. But even if she was hung, drawn and quartered,...it won't bring back the poor bastard on the bike. That's what makes me so f#*king mad.

Scottsdale woman could face manslaughter in fatal motorcycle crash

A driver involved in the death of a motorcyclist Sunday night in Scottsdale is expected to be charged with manslaughter.

About 5:30 p.m., Sharolyn Medina, 45, of Scottsdale was turning left from eastbound Shea Boulevard to northbound 124th Street when the motorcyclist, Eric Ziemba, 24, of Scottsdale, struck her BMW as he traveled west, police said.

Ziemba, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Scottsdale police spokesman David Pubins said.

Police said alcohol appears to have been a factor in the crash and that Medina reportedly was driving under the influence.

Shea Boulevard was partially closed between 120th and 130th streets until midnight, Pubins said.
Is there a update on this story?

Happened to my father-in-law in 1963. He was riding a scooter home from work and a drunk killed him. The sorry drunkard got 26 weekends in jail (so he could work and provide for his family). My mother-in-law had to raise four children under 9 years of age. The "blessing" was that the drunk was driving a company truck and my mother-in-law cleaned out the company's insurance on the claim...didn't bring back a father and husband though....26 weekends...that sucks!

Nope. Haven't seen anything else on it. The wheels of justice turn slowly...

They still haven't held the trial for the meth-head dump truck driver who plowed into 8 bikers and killed 4 of them a year ago.

One thing I am concerned about is the medical marijauna law they passed in AZ last fall.

While it would be nice to know that people that use it responsibly, I have major doubts, especially from some of the comments I have heard from people who are already shopping doctors looking to find one who will issue a prescription.

I've got news for you. Anybody who wants to spark up a joint is already doing it. Nothing will change.

CJ, I understand that, but I suspect there will be some idiots that will be looking around to get more stoned than normal, and drive under the guise of a prescription.

In other words, more of them on the road. Hope I am wrong, ( I have been known to be wrong once or twice).
