I stopped riding with local clubs as they always wanted to do 10 to 15mph over the posted speed limit. It was like we were always in a race to get to the end of the ride. For that reason I stopped going.

Swap bikes and I would struggle to keep you guys in sight.

The initial challenge was to figure out how to ride my bike slower not faster. I wasn't even trying to ride fast. 90 just feels like 60.

I have since learned how to tone it down. I am riding much slower when I am riding with other people now. I think Kris will attest to that.

Safer and more relaxing for all concerned.

Joel - Bob's bike is faster top end and just as quick if not slightly quicker. Not sure we really need to find out that his goes 157 mph and mine "only" does 142 mph or his 0-60 time is 3.01 and mine is "only" 3.49.

Yes, I have seen the other side of 125 a few times but I really can't think of a good reason to do it again.... except on a track. Going that fast can be a felony, how do you explain that to your family?

I can't claim I'm young and dumb anymore. Because I'm no longer young:cool:
I ride mostly alone at speeds between 65 and 80 which are legal speeds here.i
did see a true gps verified 140 on my bike once but chickened out at that point,it was still pulling nicely though.

Brad that was because of Dave and his slow Nomad.

Yep, Michelin Commander II's . Plus the front is now a 130/70-18 and the rear is 180/65-16. Also changed the rear shocks from the air to the progressive 412's . The front tire helped a lot. Hopefully the rear end will stick better too and not wag quite as bad.

Hope to get her out pretty soon since the weather is warming up. Just wish we would get a good rain to wash all the crap off the roads from winter.

Dave I would never forgive Cliff for throwing you under the bus like that! I know that after 24K miles since Estes Park when my bike was new I would probably ride slower in the twisties now and if Marie wasn't on the back I would probably be even slower.

Want to know what the hardest part of letting Cliff lead the ride up there was? We'd all need to pass a semi with Cliff leading and he'd jump on it to pass and I was usually following him with the rest of the group in tow and as soon as he was 10 feet in front of the semi he'd SLOW DOWN!. I damn near rear ended him 3 times. I kept telling him if he's leading and we are all going to pass that he has to stay on the gas until at least 100 yards past the semi so we ALL can get around. Try slamming on the breaks at 100mph 20 feet behind the front left side of the semi and see what dirty air will do with your handling! Major wobble.

There! Now Cliff is under the bus too!

Geez Brad...I thought sure your problem was going to be that when making the pass of the semi...and while following Cliff...you were going to run up his pipes while MAKING the pass. I figured you would have already been 100 yds out front of that truck when Cliff reached the front bumper...
