Does it Matter ?

I have my Marvella Hitch in my hands and I am ready to put it on. Does it matter if I just directly wire it to the rear light wiring coming out of the rear fender ? My trailer is a 5 wire so I figured I could just wire it directly.

Appreciate any opinions. Use trailer about 3 times a year, 4 days at a time. Just want to go the easiest route.

I wouldn't. I suggest using a Hopkins converter.

I don't have a trailer for my bike, but I have wired a lot of trailers for cars and trucks. If your is 5 wire, separate turn and brake, the technically it will work, but if you have any extras already tied into the run / turn or brake light circuits or too many lights on the trailer, it will over tax them and blow fuses. While you don't need a converter to convert separate turn signal system to a combo brake and turn system, there is a sort of converter out there that uses the run brake and turn circuits as a trigger, but takes the power off the battery. Better set up IMO.

I also suggest a Hoppy. Better to fry the Hoppy or its fuse rather than your bike tail light harness or bike fuses in the case of a short.
