We had a great time and the food was right on. Gene pulled out at 05:44. Looks like he'll get a little wet between here and Alexandria, LA. After that it looks good as of now.

Sorry you couldn't make it. You missed a good one. By the way, I helped sas off of his bike, tried to explain where we were( I think he understood ), and then helped him back on his bike when we were leaving. I tried to tell him how to get home. Poor fella. Just wanted to let you know that I took care of him for ya.

Me and Vickie made it home today. First let me say we had a great time and met some great people but I wish we had left Saturday with the group.

Today didn't go as well. We stayed at the Island View Casio Hotel Saturday night and parked the Nomad in their designated motorcycle parking area inside the parking garage (with about 30 other bikes). This morning when we got up to come home, me and the guy parked beside me had a parking ticket stuck on the bikes by the Gulfport Police Department. I found the head of Island View security and also got the property manager involved. They both agreed it was their designated area for motorcycles and always has been since they built the parking garage. It is yellow angled parking spaces but no signs of any type are posted in the area. They said Gulfport PD shouldn't be doing anything on their property unless asked to come. The security manager even called the police department and explained but of course no one at the PD or the hotel could straighten it out. To make this shorter- I have to contact some more people tomorrow then probably go to court Feb 16 to pay the fine or get it thrown out. If I have to pay the ticket in the future you may want to just park in a regular car spot and don't take a chance on this happening to you. To top it off, it rained most of the way home and my marine radio all of a sudden stopped playing and flashes PROTECT on the screen. Not sure what that's about. Oh and my rain suit leaked and I was wet most of the way home. Bad day!

Sorry to hear about your problems Bobby. If Darlene and I would have been able to stay overnight, chances are we would have stayed at the same hotel just to be with friends. I would have wound up with a ticket just like yours. That's downright dirty and I don't see how you won't be able to get it taken care of with the hotel backing you up.

I'm tracking Gene and he is on the North Dallas loop about to get on I-35. He's making pretty good time considering the rain he went through. If all goes well, he should be home by around 5 pm.

The ticket was only about $25 but it's the principal. If the PD say it's a fire lane it should be painted red and marked NO PARKING and the hotel shouldn't tell guest to park there. They even said the bikes can be viewed by security cameras so it's safe to park them there. Nothing is in writing though. If the hotel security saw a Gulport PD in their garage writing tickets you think they would have gone out and asked - what are you doing this is private property and an approved area. All the casino hotels I have been to allow bikes to park right at the door unless they have a designated marked parking area (like the Beau Rivage) in Biloxi.

Man, that's some tough luck, Bobby. I think you may be able to straighten that out, at least, I hope so. I'm glad to hear you and Vickie made it home in good safe. That's the main thing. Looking forward to seeing you guys again on a ride soon.
Mitch, glad to hear Gene is making such good time. Let us know when he arrives home. How did he do babysitting last night ?
