Scott you say,
I really liked what they did with the batwing fairing, particularly the inner fairing. The fairing surface is now painted gloss black, rather than the flat black finish of the past. There are 4 gauges instead of 6 and they are placed high in the fairing and are very easy to read. The outer fairing now has a nice vent that channels air up behind the windshield. HD says it's to eliminate buffeting, but I have never had a buffeting issue with my bike.

I think I read where the fairing is shaped a little differently, could this be why they
now have a vent to control buffeting? Where your bike doesn't need it?

Haha, not this year. Well, they do have a purple color offered for the Limited, but it is only available in the Shriner edition.

H-D's official word is that the vent was added to control buffeting. The fairing was changed to accommodate the vent. They haven't changed the batwing in eons. Many of the 2014 changes are the result of owner suggestions.

So I'm guessing the limited will now be the top of the line FL?

I'm wondering about that vent. Where does it vent to? Will the owner have to pull the fairing apart to clean out all the accumulated bugs and dirt?

The vent is located just below the windsheild, on the outer fairing, and exits through the inner fairing just above the tach & speedo. It is aimed at blowing the air up behind the windshield.

Okay, that does it, smart guy! First Schoeney and now you? I'll show you guys. I'm going to sell my bike and give up riding forever. Anyone interested in a very well taken care of 2011 Ultra Limited with 21k miles?

The Limited already is the TOL touring bike. It's got the most standard features, not counting the CVO models.

That's right. These guys are lightweights at ball busting compared to Marine Corps drill instructors.
