There was a day... if you went to Sturgis... you didn't even think about a hotel room, trailering, extra clothes, or showering. Basically, you couldn't find it anyway... it simply wasn't there.

If you didn't camp, go without showers, and etc; shit would hit the fan and your experience would not end-up well.

However, as time has progressed; people like BD came along needing showers, ironing-boards, and a comfy-bike...

Okay... well maybe I was also one of "them" that came along too...

I don't think anybody is a wuss for buying Vaquero or any kind of touring bike.

Greg,
I can see you now....waking up in your designer pajamas....fixing up a nice latte or two peeking out of your RV while nibbling on smoked salmon bagels w/cream cheese to see how things are going outside. But before you toss the door open and announce your presence with authority....you pull an old sweaty tee out of the hamper....slip on your best grease stained jeans with a couple tears in'em....light up last night's stogie butt and stroll outside like you just crawled out from under a bush.....!

Times have changed. And I wonder what those who rode their panheads or the first CB750s to Sturgis would think when they see what's going on in Sturgis today.

Man, nothing personal but you are the most contrary dude on here! I'm 6'2" for the record. I rarely ride it, and when I do its just up and down the road. I fully expect the niece to destroy it in her "learning to ride a bike" adventures.

Likewise. No doubt, GWs are dependable bikes but I rode one and they are not for me.

At this stage in my life and physical condition, my current bike is as far as I will go. I ride a 2012 Electra Glide Classic equipped with a 103 ci engine and an integrated oil cooler. Factory installed options are ABS, security, cruise control and stereo system. I saved enough funds to buy the top of the line 'Glide (not the CVO) but this Electra was all I wanted.

I have a neighbour who owned and rode the same bike (minus today's technology) all over North America 15 or so years ago. He can no longer ride due to his advanced age but he looks at my Electra and admires it. (He gives me shit for not keeping it clean also).

Like my neighbour, as long as I am fit, I want to ride the Electra everywhere rain or shine. When the day comes, I might get a trike and later on I might downsize to 250cc, if available then.

And one day, like he did, I will hang my helmet and admire bikes that are ridden and I'll probably call a guy wuss if he acts like one
