I doubt the left side plate will make any difference to the right hand side intake noise ?

No... I just want to hear the intake period. The decorative plate makes no difference to me.

I'd like to hear it too. It's been raining here in Orlando for 2 days off & on. I doubt the plate will make a difference, though. I installed my V&H slip-ons this evening. I wanna start it up & hear it, but everyone in my house is asleep! Gotta wait til the morning. It sure looks good, though. Took about 2 hours, and I made a short video of the bike running with the stock pipes. I'l do another video when I can, and post pics & (if the site will let me) vids. I think I may be done spending money on my bike now. My wife hopes so!

There is added noise, being the intake is opened up. The performance gains mask the bit more noise.

ok - I couldn't wait. Rode the bike to work and...WOW! not only does it sound better, but the horsepower is definitely up. Got up on the interstate (I-4 in Orlando) and with less than usual throttle, was up to 70. Certainly pleased wiuth the outcome. 1 minor drawback - it's doing the popping on decel again, only now it's a deeper popping sound. I can live with that.

The install took about 2 hours, and I was able to save & reuse the gaskets. The right side took only a twist back & forth as I slid it out of the header pipe and the gasket stayed on. The left side was a different story - The gasket came off with the muffler. I had to reinsert it, and clamp it down pretty tight, but not so tight that I couldn't wiggle the muffler. In a sense, I used the header pipe as a grip on the gasket, and eureka! The gasket stayed in the header. Before putting the saddle bags back on, but after instaling the pipes, I cleaned the new pipes real good with warm soapy water, so as not to leave any skin oils behind - the skin oils will stain the new chrome when it heats up. Not that I'm a greasy guy, but figured I'd follow the V&H advice. Looks good, sounds great, runs fantastic. Takin a trip over to Daytona (about an hour away) this weekend with my buddy who rides a '08 Heritage. He'll say my VV sounds like a Harley now. I'll say Nah, your Harley sounds like a Kawasaki. I'll get pics & vids on here sometime this weekend.

Oh, one last thing. I don't hear any strange sounds from the intake now.

Redjay - Put a set of V&H slipons on your bike, and you'll like it even more :)

I do not like noisy exhausts, they get on my nerves after a while.
The stock 2010 Voyager mufflers are noisy enough for me.
The performance gains with Chucksters intake and Powerpro were what I was after.
The extra noise from the intake I can live with.

I rode about 200 miles yesterday, and the bike did great. The drone of the new pipes is not too bad on the highway. At one point, I let the 2 guys I was with ride pretty far ahead on a long straight-away, then twisted her good & hard, got up to 95 mph before backing off and she ran perfect. I was aiming for 100, but I knew there was a highway patrol up ahead also, going the same direction & didn't want to attract any attention from him! She had plenty of throttle left, for sure though. Good times.

Win_surfur,
did you get rid of the popping abd backfireing on decel or is it still there. When you geta chance wrap the head pipes you will be glad you did I am very happy with it.

no, popping is there again, more so than before I put the pipes on. (It was less than stock with the air kit and Cobra Pro) But now with the new pipes, the popping is a deeper sound and sounds kinda cool, I think. Some folks may not like it. My wife riding with me doesn't mind it either.

Here's a couple of pics of the pipes. I need to do this in the daylight, the pics would be better. Tried to upload a video but mac creates video as a .mov file, and I don't believe that's a format supported on this forum.
