Enlighten me...
The liquid cooled Harley V Rod motor, developed by Harley-Davidson then made street legal according to the EPA by Porsche, was originally an Erik Buell project, designed for a fully-faired AMA sport bike in 1998. Harley decided the engine should also be used in a sport-cruiser, then took over development, making it "too big, too heavy, too expensive and too late" for Buell.

The reason I said that is because the engine and concept of the Harley V Rod was an Erik Buell project and they are no longer partially owned by Harley so it makes the whole Harley - Buell thing confusing.

I didn't say it to cut anyone or start an argument just that I figured Buell would have had some rights to the design.
Eric Buell lost all rights, even to use the name Buell Motorcycle Company, when Buell got killed off. HD owns it.

Don't know how this is possible. A stock CBR600RR has 105 horse power and only weights 410lbs. A CBR1000RR has 178 horse power and weights about the same. A Kawi ZX 1400 puts out well over 200 horses. Point being. If you past them, it's cause they didn't want to race.

Most of them wanted to race, my bike is highly modified, when at full boost, with proper fuel I put out at the rear wheel 189 HP dynoed. When we were competing it, thru the traps it runs a low 10 seconds at over 147mph with a 280lb rider and full Nomad trim. The only thing left original to the motor is the looks, except for the tell tale boost pipe, it runs 3 onboard computers for total control of all systems, spark timing, fuel pressure and rate, rev limiters and so on. 5 years and $15000 to make the motor what it is, and now I ride it as my all around tourer, as it was intended to be used as. This project was started by Kawasaki and Mr. Turbo Terry Kizer in 2001, it was abandoned when the stock motor would not hold up, I acquired it and worked with Terry to complete the project.

So, did you return it to stock form or change the bost settings etc? How has the engine held up since?

It depends on if we are talking about rear wheel or at the crank. I don't think the ZX14 makes over 200 stock. The quickest bike might be the S1000RR. It'll break into the 8's with not a lot of work. Sick bike.

She is still in race form, I generally now only run about 5 lbs of boost, and simplified programming to the systems, trying to get better fuel mileage its all the way up to 25mpg its better than the 17 that I was getting before, some of the guys that have ridden with me know I was making fuel stops every 65 to 80 miles, depending on riding conditions. The motor has held up beyond my expectations only requiring 1 overhaul in 30000 miles, due to me running to hot a fuel mixture, other than that I have only had to crack the case for a blown case gasket. I was going to convert back to stock, but was vetoed on that idea by Trip and a few others here They told me not to change history, Kawasaki recognizes the bike as the only factory turbo Nomad in existence, due to their involvement in the project. Its still a blast to ride and occasionally when the mood strikes, I turn up the heat

I remember the mileage issues in Custer. I don't know if you got 100 miles out a tank then.

I remember passing Vic on I-25 north of Denver on the way to Custer. He was towing a trailer the size of a tool shed and was having no trouble at all on those grades. Little did we know...

I remember it well. Coming up from the rear, I was looking for Granny in her rocking chair on top.

We didn't actually meet Vic until he arrived at the Bavarian Inn.
