November 13th Vicksburg

We're back home after a four day fun trip into Mountain View, AR. What a great area for motorcycle riding! We much prefer those roads over what's available in the Erurka Springs area. Weather was cool to cold but the roads were hot!

Looking at the recent posts it appears that those of us who'll be coming from the south will meet up with the rest of the group at the Old Country Store in Lorman around 11:00-11:30. I know the Park visit is on the agenda for after lunch, but I'd suggest we take the Old Port Gibson Road back into V'Burg via the Ferry roads just so we can say we got in at least one nice ride. From the information I can gather, the ride back from Lorman to Vicksburg straight up U.S. 61 is approximately 1 hour. The Old Port Gibson road to the Fisher Ferry road to Halls Ferry road is an 1 hour 15/20 min. ride. If we get away from the Old Country Store at 1:00 pm we should be back at the Military Park in time to see it all. BUT....it will be pretty well near dark when we're through at the Park. For those living closer to Vicksburg than the rest of us, you probably can make it home with no fuss. However, it looks like this trip may require an over-nighter in Vicksburg Saturday night for some of us. That's fine with BP and me because we don't want to ride home through heavily populated deer country at night. What are your thoughts?

Are you trying to say that the Central Louisiana coonasses are "fair weather riders"?

Noooo. We are "great" weather riders. We ride in "fair" weather only if we have too.I know you south La. guys will ride through a flooded, gator infested swamp in a hail storm but us riders further north are more domesticated.I do hope the weather will be ok and sorry you can't make it.

"....What's the final on the Vicksburg trip? Doesn't sound like many have decided. I plan on a day trip and bring Vickie with me. I know we have a lot of members that haven't responded.
Bobby..."

Good question, Bobby. There are a several folks off the KVR forum that want to meet up with us but there doesn't seem to be a consensus on when or where, other than for lunch between 11:00 and 11:30 Saturday at the Old Country Store in Lorman.

As far as I know Gene is still coming to my house so the only question is about cajun2wheels if they don't come then we will just meet in Vicksburg and eat at one of the casinos I will still be in Vicksburg between 9:00 & 9:30 at the motel with Gene & Jamie. The weather forecast here says 40% chance of showers but I see no reason to let that stop me. I will still be staying the night 350 mile round trip wouldn't leave much time to do anything in one day. I was sure hoping we could get together.

Bobby Patterson and I plan on coming, too. At least one of the guys on the KVR forum who is from Brandon is coming and depending on the weather, one of our KVR buds from Franklin, TN is set to come in, also. If you're going to be at the hotel around 9-9:30,

http://www.americasbestvalueinn.com/bestv.cfm?idp=1511

that should give you time to check in, freshen up and ride down to Lorman for lunch with us. We can all ride back to V'Burg together and do whatever the majority wants to do. What do you think?

Sounds good to me. I don't think they will let me check in that early but if it is not raining Bea will leave her car there and ride with me if it is raining then she will not give up the car

They are calling for 60% rain here and after checking with the other riders we have decided to cancel out this time.We were looking forward to meeting and greeting but the weatherman has spoken. If by some chance the situation changes maybe someone can pm me a cell number and we could just meet up in Vicksburg weather permitting.

"...We were looking forward to meeting and greeting but the weatherman has spoken..."

Weathermen have a propensity for erring on the wrong side of the coin they flip to predict weather. Keep your saddlebags packed.

Your correct sas.I checked several weather sources and they all say rain but you know how they lie.I'm keeping my options open but it doesn't look good.I did take a nice 65 mile back roads ride today and it was a perfect day to ride.Weather was beautiful here.

Dear Baby Daughter had the weather folks figured out when she announced at age 5: "Daddy they just guess".
Where else can you be paid a princely sum and only have to be correct maybe a third of the time?
