Rugg: if it was the tires every guy who has added Metz would be the same. And most have not had the vibration your talking about. Sorry your warranty isn't worth the paper its written on. I hear you about the Goldwing. I have been toying between that bike and a HD ultra glide classic, both about same price, both loaded out. :-)

Yes.....They had already replaced the motor mounts with new ones before I got the bike back a couple of months ago.
Made them show me the old ones (the ones they cut every other spline out of) just To be sure they actually did it.

Refugio, how about when you pull your clutch in and it smoothes out, you still have the metzler's on. I am going to change the counter balance parts on mine, doesn't look like that tough a job.

Hey Refugio, I have 9k miles on my 2007. I just put a metzler 880 on the rear wheel about 2 months ago.

I immediately noticed the tire was quieter and did not have the roar of the stock tire. However, I also noticed a vibration especially in the seat and running boards. I notice the vibration when I slightly lean the bike either left or right, Even while traveling in a straight line I can lean and create the vibration. I assumed it was caused by the extra rain groove on the outside edges of the tire.

I have taken the drive shaft and swing arm off and serviced them. I checked all bearings and used a torque wrench on all the bolts. Vibration is still there. I think it is the metzler 880.

I have thought about reducing the torque to about 60 lbs on the axle bolt and see if that would help. The axle bolt seems awful tight at nearly 100lbs.

If you ever plan a trip up toward Fort Worth holler at me. We will compare vibrators.

billmac, I had the same issue with rear 880 Metzler. Straight line was OK, but slightest lean produced vibration. Sent it back to Dennis Kirk for refund.
Vibration went away when I put the car tire on.

The service manual calls for 80 ft-lbs of torque for both the front and rear axle. 100 ft-lbs is too tight.

Your right Bob, it should be 80lbs torque but even that seems plenty tight. It was the swing arm I tightened to 95 ft lbs as I read on Gadget. Turns out the manual calls for 80 lbs on swing arm too. I need to start reading the manual closer.

The rear axle is 80 Ft/Lbs, the swing arm is 94 Ft/Lbs.
