Very Nice! That smaller filter really makes a difference.

I like it a lot. It looks more to scale than the 9".

You do not have to remove the crossover tube to do this mod. It is no longer connected on the right side, however. The main reason people remove the crossover tube is because third-party intakes (Thunder, Hypercharger, etc) have no provision to use it and many people remove the left side air filter, backing plate, and crossover tube to clean up the left side of the engine.

I went and bought a fancy knurled nut for the air cleaner and picked up a filter for the breather hose:

I also figured out why I blew the DFI fuse last night. One of the wires that went to the ICS solenoids must have gotten pinched at some time in the past and squished the insulation, so the exposed wire was shorting to the aluminum backing plate.

Do you have the stock exhaust on the bike?

Looks good, Scott. I ordered my plate/filters a few days ago, so soon I can be 'cool', too.

You know the two tubes that stick out through the stock backing plate that the ICS solenoids connect to? Well they have to be removed or moved out of the way in order to use the 7" backing plate. The tubes form a "Y" behind the backing plate and each end has a hose that loops up and connects to a fitting on the manifold, behind the throttle body. So, I removed the tubes and hoses and capped the fittings on the manifold with vacuum plugs. I only showed the rear one in the picture because I couldn't get a clear shot of the other side, but it's in approximately the same place.

There are two hoses that connect to the rear of the stock backing plate at the bottom. The smaller diameter hose is a drain line to evacuate water out of the intake area, the larger diameter hose is a breather that just vents gases into the intake area. The small Spectre breather filter is connected to the larger hose. I may relocate it or something, but that's what it's for.

OK I didn't know what that line was so I just left it open, by the way I had Joe make me a plate for the 9" I just liked it so if you want to get rid of your 9" cover with the 1600 on it I would be interested if not to expensive. Thanks Jim
