Yes, there will be. Not for this temporary test, though. I have an "L" shaped bracket that will attach to the rear of the head unit and will be bolted to the fairing at the headlight "hump" to support the weight of the head unit.

I just needed to test the stereo and speakers to make sure they work and nothing needed to be returned or warrantied.

Reckless fairing (more pics 05/23)

I called my painter today and I'm taking mine in on Monday. I should have it back later in the week.

I went today at lunch and bought a bunch of stainless steel hardware to replace much of the hardware that came with the fairing. That stuff adds up quick.

The bolts that attach the mounting brackets to the inner fairing, the bolts that attach the splash cover to the fairing, bought new longer bolts to attach the mounting brackets to the stock windshield mounts, plus all the associated washers and nuts with all the above. I also bought black socket head bolts for the speakers, plus other odds and ends. I use nylon insert locknuts on everything. It was over $30 in hardware.

I about gave myself a heart attack last night thinking my stereo was too deep for the fairing. After some careful measurement, It appears the stereo will clear the inside of the outer shell by about 1/2".

Hey CJ I was going to tell you I junked that hogtenna it is crap the guy I got it from is real cool I'm sure I'll get a store credit,,, I just got a 9 dollar flex job about 14-16 inches long from advance auto man that think pulls in all the stations and is small enough to leave inside the fairing don't think it will loose anything being in there which is nice I didn't want a whipper on the bike anyway you might give it a try unless you want a whipper

Nice work all. It is good to see folks at work adapting what they want.

A couple of people here have been looking at the Reckless and the WideOpenCustom fairings. I have the WOC but I do like the Reckless for the 2 piece construction assuming you can easily remove the outer to get at wiring and such.

I am not sure I understand why the radio hole is so low. The WOC is higher and easily clears the Aeromach risers I have. WOC does include a glove box underneath that could easily be used for a switch and power center. My friend in Calgary did something like that. The downside may be that the WOC stereo install angle is a bit downward and that may contribute to CD skip. I use an iPod so that is not an issue for me but is for others.

I am not sure what other major differences there are that others may have picked up on so feedback would be appreciated.

My install with PolkAudio speakers.
