JTD Cycle Parts - Hard Lowers - KawaNow Discount

I had that question a while ago. I reviewed the instructions on the JTD website and NO you do not have to remove the Nomad factory crash bars in order to install these as they are a 2 piece design. I was worried about that. Check out the website and review the instructions for installation. Step by step with pictures
I'm putting my MOD list together right now and this is on the top of the list. Just the $ and time (as in these I have to paint) to get ready for the bike. Others are bolt on nothing else to do ( driver backrest etc).
My only concern was the summer temps and heat, but some have even explained that with the opening for ventilation it's a non issue. My only question now is if the original glove box doors can be changed to incorporate locks?

No removal is needed, and mounting them is actually very simple.

Kris, did you happen to buy a pair? I'm thinking about it. I know "they" say there is no issue with having them installed during the hot weather, but it still concerns me. I do have the one piece crash bar chaps at present and don't have a heat issue.

Ricky,
I have not, but I would not let the heat issue stop you. Like you, I have no issues with heat with my Airlite chap...besides....these have vents in them!

My concern is that I have the large Edmonds windshield lowers and I'm pretty sure they would impact the engine guard hard lowers when in a sharp turn.... :-/.

Do you guys think they would hit the larger Chucksters lowers, with the fairing on my bike?

I have a home made pair of lower wind deflectors and they just fit behind the bottom of my faring. I actually need to cut them down somewhat now as they do rub on the fairing. I would think with these lowers you'd have to modify them as well because they look like they would hit. I'm not sure if anyone has them on there's now, but from looking at them in pictures can't see how they wouldn't hit?

Of course hitting the lower fairings,,, never occurred to me Kris.
Maybe I'll get hold of John and see if he's heard of any issues.

For what is worth... I take my lower-fairings off in the hot-season.

It really isn't all that big of a deal.

I saw how these were designed and it doesn't look to be much different that my lowers with regard to them having two halves and the bolt-on assembly -- so I would assume taking them off would be no more of problem than mine -- which isn't a problem.

That little cut-out in your after-market windshield lowers is so they don't hit the engine guard bar when in a full turn. I believe the ABS hard lowers would interfere with the turning radius when used with those particular windshield lowers. Stock ones I'm sure pose no issue at all.

Ya not sure I want to give up those large lowers. They are awesome for cutting the wind/buffeting.
They come right up and stop short of the "dragon fly" deflectors attached to the fairing. I have little to no wind. ........and the buffeting is 0 too....

They are nice and really do the job of reflecting wind away. They open up as well but it's not like it gives you some great breeze on a hot day when they're open.
Part # ?....no sorry but you'll find them.
And the fairing is an HD.
BTW... you need a photo of your bike in the sig. section of your profile

They make them for the HD fairings (you would have to drill to mount as the HD have the holes already, but Kuryakyn has them available like these here:
http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/839...er-Dragon-Wing

I saw them on an HD fairing at the Toronto MC show and tax in could have had them for 100.00 but will wait till April show as wanted to measure for installation first.
They look cool and open too for extra ventalation, sleek
